Kirk vs Moreno. Varsho vs Carroll. It's the Toronto - Arizona rumble by the Gardiner! (July 17-19)

Hotdogs! Work from Dome! Probably something happening Wednesday!

Just as a lunar eclipse allows the world of spirits to temporarily pass into the land of the living, this three day stretch marks a magical time when the Varsho/Moreno trade thread seeps into the game threads. Will the accusations, recriminations, and one-upmanship take us to a season page count record? Will we be happy with a win, a loss, who is cheering for what?

There's only one way to find out - READ THE THREAD!!!

more like Moreno + Gurriel versus Varsho. I predict 0 hits for Varsho and > 0 for Moreno + Gurriel combined.

The inclusion of Kirk is all the Varshonites have left now. But when you add Carroll to the equation; *VC 'it's over' Gif*

Francis on DL
Swanson DFA's

Paxton Schultz and Justin Bruihl called up.
They can't be any worse than what we sent out, but probably not much of an upgrade either.

I know many are calling for Chad Green's release as well. But Green is a legit "top 13 pitcher" on most MLB staff, when you look at the options. Should be lower part of staff of course. At this point of the season the $10M is just a sunk cost (he is getting it regardless), and he should be analyzed against options for bottom of staff before releasing him. Of course Garcia and Sandlin can't come soon enough, as well as other adjustments without Garcia/Sandlin, to get him out of leverage unless no other choices.

Justin Bruihl is a 27 year old lefty, who has been OK in Buffalo it seems ... 3.81 ERA in 29 innings, good K rate.
He has been terrible in short stins in the majors last 2 year, and pretty medicore before that. We have no pitching depth or ready prospects to step in..... its been a nice gift that Little, Fluharty and Fischer have been very good so far, but I'm not counting on anything else.

Sandlin, Garcia and hopefully Scherzer can't come back soon enough. I also don't think its time for the team to trade prospects to fill pitching holes quite yet (unless its a minor deal trading mid for mid). We have to prove we are contenders before doing that, and I think we need another 2-3 weeks to decide that.

Sandlin is hopefully less than a week away given he’s already pitched a couple of times in Buffalo. Bruihl is likely here for a very short stint, unless he’s super impressive in which case Green might be on chopping block

I am glad Swanson is DFA. Closes the chapter on the terrible trade this front office made trading a bat like Teoscar for this scrub (even though Swanson was effective in the bullpen in 2023). Chad Green should definitely be next to be DFA once Sandlin and Garcia are ready to come back. The 10.5 million is a Sunk Cost, and with how terrible Green has been this year, his salary should not make a difference if he stays or goes.

Chad Green is no longer the Elite guy he was in 2017/2018, or even the good pitcher he was in New York from 2021. I would use him in very low leverage or blowouts the next little a while. When everyone is fully healthy, there is simply no room for him right now in the bullpen with the emergence of other guys like Braydon Fisher.

Bo’s gotta catch that ball. Only a few more months until he’s gone.

Varsho catches that ball in CF, Clase costs them a run with that break back rather than forward.

2nd run given up today that Varsho would have saved.

Looks like Clase and Straw are injured, time to get Varsho back up here.

Would like to see Vlad sell out and take more swings like the HR he hit tonight even if it lowers his OBP like 25-35 points.

He shouldn’t have to sell out to be able to get around on a FB with his bat speed

We get it, you love Varsho. Stop lusting over him. It's embarassing.

Everyone who is a fan of this team should love Varsho, he’s their best player when healthy and his value is clearly shown in games like this one where the replacement CFs don’t reach catchable balls.

Dropping quickly back to earth after that hot streak. They’re still the mediocre team they’ve always been.

Thomas saved a run in that 7th inning. Difference in the game is CF defense.
