Suns Trying To 'Drum Up Better Offers' For Kevin Durant

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Tue Jun 17, 2025 3:29 pm

The Phoenix Suns have yet to receive a strong enough trade offer for Kevin Durant from the San Antonio Spurs, Houston Rockets or Miami Heat to make them move forward with a deal, sources tell The Athletic. Durant has communicated his intention to sign an extension with one of those three teams.

The Suns are hoping that Durant will warm up to the idea of playing for the Minnesota Timberwolves. ESPN reported on Monday that Durant has no interest in playing for the Wolves. When the Wolves pursued a trade for Durant at the trade deadline, they believed he had interest in joining their team. Minnesota could offer a combination of Julius Randle, Rudy Gobert and Donte DiVincenzo that would allow the Suns to remain competitive in the short-term.

“Phoenix is trying to drum up better offers,” said one rival executive.

The Rockets have made a firm offer to the Suns for Durant, but Phoenix has so far been "seriously underwhelmed by it." San Antonio has been "conservative" in pursuing Durant. Sources say that Durant specifically would prefer to play for the Spurs.

The Heat are motivated to acquire Durant in order to pair him with Bam Adebayo and Tyler Herro, but it not yet clear if they possess the assets to execute a trade as the Suns would likely have to be willing to take on Duncan Robinson and Andrew Wiggins.

Its pretty clear that his motive is to play in a city that he'll enjoy outside of basketball. No offense but how is MIA even being considered when it wouldnt be for Herro/Bam but rather to play with them, what are they really winning lol. Both Texas team make the most sense

I don't get it from Miamis POV. Do they really believe KD, Bam and Herro can do damage in the East? At best that would be a second round team.

There are $54.7 million reasons they can't get a better offer.

Why isn't Denver more involved? Are they restricted by the new CBA rules or something? If I were Denver I would be offering anyone but Jokic, Murray or Gordon. Does MPJ + Braun + filler & picks get it done? Seemingly better than what Houston or Miami would offer, right? Jokic + Murray + Gordon + Durant certainly has some health risks, but I would think they should be favorites.

The Jimmy Bulter trade is a good indicator of the value Suns should expect for an expiring older former superstar. Miami got Wiggins, Schroeder, Kyle Anderson and one FRP. Luka fetched AD and a single FRP.

Wiggins, Robinon, Jacquez and one FRP is probably. the best the Suns will get.

If the Suns would rather have PG than Wiggins and Rozier, I'm sure something could be arranged...

How is HOU matching salary without FVV? Green? It would make me laugh if it came out HOU offered Green and Brooks straight for Durant. No picks.

If Minnesota offers Randle and Gobert and 17, although IDK why they would if Durant won't sign his extension, the Suns have to take that and just pay BKN to take Grayson Allen.

BKN gets Allen and 17
MIN gets Durant and Cody Martin
PHX gets Gobert, Randle, and 19
