Cheers to us Magic fans on a great offseason so far

Post#1 » by Black and Blue » Tue Jun 17, 2025 7:40 pm

This man in this jersey. What a wild month for us Magic fans.

It’s been a long road but I just want to take a breath and say how cool it is that we are in the contender conversation again with a solid team and jerseys that nod to our last winning era in the 90s and 00’s. We focus so much on the negative and improvement but this has been an awesome offseason so far.

Cheers everyone! Let’s enjoy this.

Our fear of Weltman not doing anything this summer has been relieved. Now there is even more work to do to form this squad. I do like that we have an open spot.

Yep. Still more work to do.

But I'm glad we did something major that should theoretically help the offense.

We've entered contention right on queue.

Get a swingman for the rotation and we are golden.

I also think that, in addition to a rookie for Mr #14 and one of the SRPs as a 2way player, the ONLY thing more the Magic will do is sign a vet-wing on a min deal.

As I have said before, that means the Magic would be signing a player with less than 6-years of league experiences; that is all that can be afforded currently.

I've been a major critic of Weltman's rebuild at times. I thought, especially early on, there were a ton of growing pains with him learning the ropes and what it takes to run a basketball operation. Bringing on a seasoned GM like Hammond and having him bridge the gap between those growing years and where we are now, in hindsight, was smart, and sometime around the Vuc trade in 2021, I saw things start to click for Weltman, and it's almost impossible for me now not to give credit for building what is a championship contender.

We currently sit with the 6th-best odds to win the NBA championship in the entire league. That's built on the core of two drafted home-grown NBA superstars in Banchero/Wagner, a drafted all-defensive 3&D stud in Suggs, and an elite shooter who will be vying for an all-star game in the East in Bane, who are all 27 and under and locked up on (Paolo soon) long-term contracts.

I thought Weltman identified a weakness in the East after the Tatum injury and got ahead of every other team in the East by trading for one of the best players on the Market. With his remaining 1st, he still managed to get one of the best values in the draft in Jase and signed one of the better table-setting backup point guards in the league for 7/M, which completed an offseason that addressed almost all of our deficiencies and set our stars up for success.

Now, as it currently stands, despite how rocky it felt at times, Weltman has put together one of the best rebuilds of the decade so far and set his team up to compete for the rest of the decade in a wide-open East. We will see how the rest of the summer plays out, but to this point, I thought he has absolutely rocked the offseason in almost every area I was hoping for.

I wanted changes but not change for the sake of change. Not sending out assets for short term plays. And thankfully the assets sent out are for long term plays. Very happy so far.

Weltman really added all
1). Demond Bane
2). Tyus Jone
3). Jase Richardson
4). Noah

Subtracted
1). KCPiss
2). Gary Harris
3). Corey Joseph
4). Cole Anthony

Extend the man now!

Remind me who brought those bottom 4 to the team in the first place

He did right this off-season but let's not forget he has painted himself into he corner with some of his earlier moves.

That being said I'm excited now. Hopefully he will find a way to keep Mo. I would miss his enthusiasm a lot.
