Pacers Trade No. 23 Pick To Pelicans To Reclaim Own 2026 First-Rounder
Didn't see this posted here. Brilliant move by the Pacers regaining control of their picks. They basically traded Bruce Brown, Jordan Nwora, picks #19 and #29 in 2025, and pick #23 this year for Pascal Siakam.

Re: Pacers Trade No. 23 Pick To Pelicans To Reclaim Own 2026 First-Rounder
I would have personally kept the pick if I was the Pels. Pacers need as little salaries incoming as possible this off-season, so makes a ton of sense for them to push the pick. I'm surprised the Pels couldn't get at least a 2nd out of it too.
Siakam for Ingram,Ochai, Walter, Shead, and a 2nd. Is that the end of the Siakam deal or am I missing something?

And the Raptors traded Siakam for BI, Ochai, Ja’Kobe, and a TPE that helped get Shead and the Blazers 2025 2nd
Win-win
Congrats to both teams

Blazers 2nd this year and Lakers 2nd next year if you consider Davion Mitchell a byproduct of the Siakam trade.

Biggest losers are the Pelicans who basically traded Ingram for Brown, Olynyk and the 23rd pick in this year's draft.

The story of the Pascal trade matrix started with the Raptors helping out the Pelicans to get under the tax line, by getting them to salary dump Kira Lewis to the Pacers.
We get Brandon the the next trade deadline
This is just round out the entire deal, which started in early February 2024.

It is a bad start for Dumars that he couldn’t get a litlle something extra thrown on top for doing this. The just gave the Pacers flexibility and the removal of downside risk for basically free.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?
Please advise….

Just last year the Pacers helped the Pelicans duck the tax.
I think this is them returning the favour.

Could you imagine this board if our FO traded Ingram for the 23rd overall pick?

They did that without compensation?

Pelicans are basically betting that the Pacers 2026 FRP will be 23rd overall or worse. It's risky if the Pacers were to have a season from hell next year though.
Tre Mann should have been a Top 10 Pick in the 2021 Draft

I think the Raptors got the ball rolling.
They got Pelicans under the cap by trading Kira Lewis at the cost of a 2nd rounder for Indiana.
Indiana uses him as salary filler to send to us.
Our end goal was Ingram all along, and I think we got alot more than we thought.
This trade right now is to, unofficially, complete the agreement.

Maybe they like players who will be available at #23.

I think those kinds of things may build a relationship but I am skeptical that you can draw such a straight line or that this was all some grand scheme to get Ingram from the beginning. Even if you are doing a favour, you still need to be properly compensated in my opinion.

Davion Mitchell was flipped for another second as well.

I could see them going Maluach and Walter Clayton Jr. or Ben Saraf. Or go with Fears, then a big with #23.

We basically traded Siakam for 3 picks in the 20’s. Pacers make out like bandits here plus they save money to resign Miles Turner.
Don’t know what the **** the Pelicans are doing. I know they could be trying to move up to grab Ace but I’d think having the Pacers pick next year is more valuable than the 23rd this year.

Just on the due diligence front, doing the trade now when you can just wait until the end of the finals is simply malpractice.
If Haliburton's potential injury ends up in the worst case scenario with what's left of the finals, he could be out for a significant amount of next season. No reason to do it now

That’s what a lot of these trades with lots of picks become.
The haul the Lakers gave up for Davis? All they have to show for it now is Murray and this pick.

Pacers know they are also going to be finishing a lot lower next year and the pick might even be closer to the mid-teens.
I'm not sold on this Pacers team at all. This is just a stretch of adrenaline. Kind of like JImmy B with the Heat a few years ago. Hali also has a history of leg injuries. Hali goes down and this team is completely mortal. I think no Hali, they might not be a playoff team. With Hali they are like a 6-8th seed team.
