When you're trying to trade for anybody remotely available/known, it kind of gives the impression:
A. There is no over-arching plan.
B. Ownership has given you an ultimatum and you're desperate.

RJ + Poeltl + Dick + 2 Future First Round Picks (w/ protections).
That's my prediction.
Bit of a steep price, but YOLO.
Quickley
Ingram
Durant
Barnes
That's a sweet core four.

Yeah, not like losing on purpose, decimating your team and hoping you get ping pong balls bounce your way for the shot at getting a player who may or may not become a star - that's real strategy

What we know:
♤ Masai wants KD
♤ If Masai gets KD we are going to continue having a big offseason revamping this entire roster into championship status because Masai knows we can't waste him in this small window we have with him already about to turn 37 in September

The third option is that they’re just accumulating assets if they think they’re getting good value.
But I think B might be a good bet.

Just gonna throw this out there:
RJ/IQ/Yak/9th pick
for
Garland/Jarrett Allen/future 1st
Or
Garland/hunter/future 1st
RJ/IQ/Yak/9th pick

Or
Garland/hunter/future 1st

Trading for Durant isn't the smartest move unless its a small group of players we dont want here long term. Poeltl + RJ + Dick + protected first is as far as I'd go.
Fleming / MLE / 39th / Chomche
Durant / Mogbo
Ingram / Agbaji / Battle
Barnes / Walter
Quickely / Shead
We have a decent bench from our 2nd round draft last year. We can probably add a future 2nd in there too.
This is as close to the 6'9 line up as you can get. Durant and Ingram handle scoring. Barnes and Fleming handle defense. IQ is a 3rd option and long term 2nd option.

The more I think going after Sabonis and Monk and then trying to rebalance the roster by moving RJ to Portland makes the most sense:
Toronto
Out: IQ, RJ, Ochai, Jakob and 9th pick, 34thth pick
In: Sabonis, Monk, Simons and 11th.
Portland out: Simons and 11th
Portland in: RJ, Portland 2nd rounder via Toronto, Kings 2nd rounder
Sacramento Out: Sabonis, Monk and 2nd rounder
Sacramento IN: IQ, Jakob, Ochai, 9th pick.
Simons - Shead
Monk - Walter - Wilson
Ingram - Dick - Battle
Barnes - Mogbo
Sabonis - Sorber - Castleton
One thing people need to realize about Sabonis. He is one of the iron men in the league. Rarely misses games, that is worth something, considering we have a few Mr.Glass on our team.

That team will lead the league in point scored against while probably getting the 6th seed in the east.

If Masai trades any combination of Poeltl, Barrett, IQ and our pick for Durant, it'll be a desperation move to stick it to Rogers on his way out. Baffling for the front office to spend 2-3 years preaching patience with a dead-end team of Pascal, OG and Vleet, but won't even entertain a single game with Ingram and the incoming pick. Too patient when we should have been proactive and too proactive when we should be patient. If that's the case, will just wait till we bring someone in with vision to do the inevitable rebuild. Hopefully whomever we bring in understands this market and drafts well.

MASAI doesn't usually post his "moves" ahead of time.. all rumors and smokescreens, imo...
Let's see what goes down on draft night ...

KDs prefered destinations don't want him enough to put up a legit offer that beats ours or Minnis but Suns wanna do right by KD to send him where he wants to be but the teams he wants to be in are not playing ball....
We were pure garbage last year whenever Poeltl missed time due to injuries.
The idea that he's easily replaced is hilarious.
No easily replacable but he can be replaced if we offer one of IQ/RJ....Prolly to the Blazers for one of Ayton/Timelord.....Maybe another C if we look around but....By replacable i mean you can get a C....Maybe won't be as good as Yak but you can still replace that position with RJ or IQ if one is left out the deal.
But the point is to be better not worse. And any KD deal i have seen so far would us make worse.

Brinbe wrote:RapsFanInOhio wrote:Am I the only one who wouldn’t want to pay KD an extension? Do you want him on the books at $50 million per year when he’s 38 years old?
Thinking about this more, I’m not buying this. The fact that an offer was leaked means it’s highly unlikely that’s the offer that gets accepted. We probably never even offered this but it’s gotten leaked to set the market.
I think there's too much smoke from people who have obvious sources in that FO for this to be some made-up thing
and it's definitely risky but they're not giving up Ingram or Barnes or any other picks and IQ or RJ aren't too hard to replace. The big thing would be finding a C to replace Yak but I think they've probably thought on it if they're taking a swing like this.
KD was still a pretty good player last season so he won't completely fall off a cliff. They'll make a run for it during a year when the East is wide open.
Beeing available is not the same things actually offering them. In my estimate the #9 pick and RJ are beeing shopped. IQ and Poeltl are only available for an upgrade.

Sabonis is an awful defender. Dont know where you have that from.

Well if you want a guy that does what he does and defends. Be ready to include another 5 unprotected first rounders and two swaps.
