I get why the Sun played physical, its can be a successful tactic vs INdy. Best to muddy the waters vs a team that likes to run.

Feels like the game got out of hand due to the refs more then the players.

If the refs called stuff in the first half the fights would have never happened.
When stuff doesn't get called it usually ends up in big fights.

Man, I hate Caitlin Clark “fans.” :nonono:

Though, I’d say I’m a Clark fan, no quotes! :D

All I'll say is that the comments I'm seeing about last night's fireworks are fairly tame coming from the weirdo Dave Portnoy faction of CC's fanbase. Bunch of losers.

Makes me wonder what the difference is here this time around  :-? Just kidding. It speaks for itself and that's all I have to say about that.

Also, man Cunningham took her down by the neck. She didn't even wait for the refs to announce their call, she knew she was done.

Bad job by the refs for letting this get out of control.

Poor Sparks. Last night, their PG's were Shay Petty and Grace Berger (who got into LA at 8:30 the night before). Fine players, but it's hard to win games with players just getting into town.
Last night the team was down Brink, Rae, Plum, Odyssey, and Allamond.

I hope we get a chance to ever see this team fully healthy.

Until then, Seattle is more than happy to help them keep losing since they have their pick.

It was effective. The Sun had Jacy picking up Clark at 3/4s court and bodying her up, then would swing a hedge defender toward Clark at half court. That tactic pretty much took away Clark's outlet passes, slowed the Indy offense, and limited Clark's ability to get into the lane. Yeah she scored 20, but 12 of those came on difficult 3 pointers and 4 more on technical fouls.

Oh, and although I rarely support retaliation in sports, Cunningham made the right play. You can't let the opposition treat your superstar the way that the Sun did after Clark got poked in the eye. You gotta send the message, "Don't **** with her." The Edmonton Oilers made sure, first and foremost, that teams didn't mess with Wayne Gretsky. Hard play is one thing, but cheap shots can't be tolerated.

Mabrey's was a cheap shot, for sure. I recall a similar play in the NBA from back in the day, Mike Dunleavy Jr. annoying Giannis, so that Giannis retaliated by body checking MDJ, sending him flying. Instant ejection, and in a playoff game no less. But apparently NBA playoff games are refereed too strictly for the WNBA crew.

I saw no issue with what took place. The eye poke is one thing but what Mabrey did was unnecessary. Cunningham defended her teammate. Everyone moves on.

I watched Liberty vs Fever the other day and there were no cheap shots against her. Stop lying.

This is the Dave Portnoy side of CC's fanbase in action. Always gotta make stuff weird.

Yeah, everything but the Mabrey charge we will see time & time again. Clark is crazy good, must be defended aggressively, is physical in response (she's a push-off queen), and is super chirpy. Shes going to get into minor scraps constantly, throughout her career.

Imagine the Sky's locker room last year, with Chennedy, Mabrey, and Angel!
