Fits nicely with Melo/Miller and he plays defense!

Imagine if we come away with Herb and Fears.

Coming away with Herb and Fears would definitely propel us in the right direction. We need NBA level players. Herb is a really good one and Fears has potential to be a really good one as well. It also adds a bit of depth. We could go Melo/ Fears at pg and Herb/Mann at sg. On paper I like the look of that.

If we did a deal for Herb and 7, I believe the Hornet’s draft targets would be either Kon, Maluach and Jaku. Per LO Hornets show today, host said Krysten Peak mentioned there is a LOT of quiet within the Hornets org on Jaku…kind of the same vibe as last year on Tiddy. Remember, Peak was first to call the Hornets likely picking Salaun.

Hornets might have to include at least one of their second rounders, but that becomes a very attractive deal, assuming the player NO wants is available at 4, and the Hornets want someone else more further back.

Pelicans likely wanted 23 to send to Phoenix for Durant.

If we can come out id this with herb 7 and 23 for 4 green and this year's 2nd it would be a masterclass. Im fine with jaku, kon, or Maluach at that point. It would put me over the moon if with the 23rd pick we ended up with Fleming. I think this is our best case scenario. If we dont trade id take Edgecombe, Fears, Bailey in that order.

Not a Reed Sheppard fan, so not sure I’d find that deal with Whitmore plus 10 worth the trade down. We’d get a solid player there like Bryant or Jaku, but I don’t see the Hornets jumping back that much.

I don’t think there is any intel that Houston wants to trade up. Also rumor is they don’t want to include Reed, Jabari or Eason in any KD deal, so I doubt they are making those guys available here.

Whitmore is a bench flyer- no way I would move down 6 spots for him. I would give up 34 and a future 2nd at best. Which is nowhere close to the value equal of moving up from 10-4.

I'm getting the feeling that the organization is ready to move on from LaMelo and the Ball family has sensed that. And it's why they're suddenly making noise about him playing for the Clippers.

If we do move him this summer I think our best opportunity is to work with Phoenix and Houston as part of a Durant trade. We send LaMelo to Phoenix, KD goes to Houston, and Jalen Green plus Jabari Smith coming here.

Agreed, I also think there's some truth in the reported interest in Jalen Green. If it's not LaMelo going out it's Miles. If Durant is traded to Houston I think Jalen Green will be coming here.

If we do have plans in place to move him and have negotiated with suitors, we are far more likely to draft a PG. If it's Fears/Harper, we are 100% restarting the rebuild, which is much different than extending it.

Seems like a letdown. I've been watching Tyrese Haliburton and I think LaMelo is more skilled. Hali avoids contact and plays soft like LaMelo. Looks brittle. Doesn't get to the line much. He's been coached to share the ball so he's far better making his teammates better. And his team has a big trade addition in Siakam.

I would demand an absolute haul. I wouldn't relent on my demands even if I'm already decided about moving him in the near future.
