Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
Just for curiosity, what is Keyonte George's value in terms of this year's draft?
My guess is somewhere between #13 and #20. Not sure a specific team would make a trade offer in these terms.

I think that range is aiming high by about 10 picks or so.

13-20 feels high, tbh. Score first, ball dominant guards who can't defend are a dime a dozen and George isn't particularly notable in that category.

Maybe something in the 20s? Though when I look at the board, I don't see any of those teams itching to trade for a Keyonte George. He doesn't really do anything well right now but there still is some potential

Maybe Brooklyn gives up 26 or 27 for him if they're not planning on re-signing Cam Thomas? That's about the best I can see. Most likely you're looking at a high 2nd round pick

I think that's a little optimistic. I'd say more like a couple of SRPs, or a late FRP if combined with another minor asset. A good comparison is with Ochai Agbaji, who was picked 13th, and then traded in his second season along with an expiring Olynyk (positive value) for a very late FRP (28th)
Players that don't excel as rookies tend to be valued at significantly less than their draft position. Most FO would rather pick their own prospect, or get a prospect for free from the UFA/FA/GLeague pools.
In a no-win argument, the first poster to Let It Go will at least retain some peace of mind

Hard to say. This would be about a team with a late 1st having more interest in him than any of the players on the board even taking into account the higher salary and less rookie years. This team might exist, but I couldn't pretend to tell you who they are.

Re: Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
Who's giving up 13-17th picks in the draft for a combo guard that plays no defense and isn't even efficient on offense? That screams a major overpay. Nobody is even giving up anything close to the 18-20 picks for Keyonte George neither. Guards who can score, but play no defense hold limited value in today's NBA with the new CBA rules. Keyonte can maybe return a very late 1st round pick or a few second round picks due to to his age, but anything more than that is simply aiming too high.

I think the best path is to pair him with 21 and swap for one in the teens rather than hoping for a good pick without adding incentive.

Re: Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
Probably a late first at best or second rounder to be honest. Once drafted, players lose value immediately until they prove something. Keyonte has a long way before we can say he's a clear rotation player, let alone an impactful one. Add to it that his archetype is among the least valuable ones in the league (undersized, inefficient shooting guard who struggles on defense) and it's very difficult to see any team moving a good pick for him ATM. Maybe he can be valued positively if included in a larger trade package, though.

Are we talking about in a vacuum or real world?
I don't know much about him, but I see it as a KBB value (vacuum) or KBB sell value (real world)
If Jazz are offering him for BPA, then that means he is probably worth less than whatever that pick is. If you are flipping the script, and saying maybe there is a team that is calling Utah to try to trade their pick FOR him, what would they accept - it's a different question.
Originally #16, 2 years of rookie scale used up, hasn't popped, so best case looking like a back-end rotation guy on an affordable but not cheap deal.
Real world I think Magic at pick #25 could have a need for his shooting.
Looking at mocks, I think I would rather draft Liam McNeeley (tankathon mocked at #17) than buy on a used Keyonte.

Re: Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
I think an alternative here would be looking for a different player in a similar situation, i.e. 2nd/3rd year rookie scale player yet to pop. Again, the archetype makes it hard, but probably there are FO people who were higher on him than most at the time of the draft and still have some confidence in him panning out, maybe they could still see him as a buy low opportunity .

If the worst NBA team in the league wants to move a rookie contract player I think other teams will be hesitant. I would expect an early 2nd to be a good outcome.

Re: Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
The Wolves seem like a decent fit, 17 is a bit rich though considering that he only has 2 years left on his rookie deal. Still probably a bit short on value, but 17 for George and 43 is the best I can think of. For those who watch him more closely, does George have any chance of developing like Andrew Nembhard did on defense? Similar build but George has a longer wingspan

No, he is the worst defender on planet earth. That said his efficiency went up from a bench role and I think he is a better than average scoring guard off the bench.

Re: Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
I wouldn’t hesitate giving up 28 and 32 from Boston for him assuming Jrue is moved as expected. He’s only 21 and played on a joke of a team that was trying to lose, so I’m not willing to write him off yet.
He’s an underrated athlete with a good handle and good size/length, and I actually think his finishing game/shooting stroke has a bit of upside at his age. Learning from and practicing against Pritchard and White could do a lot for his future. For 2 picks that are probably worth something in the low to mid 20’s, it would be a no brainer. However, I don’t see the point in Utah giving up on him after 2 years for a subpar return.

Re: Keyonte George for what pick in 2025 draft?
For me, there are 27 guys in the 2025 draft I'd take over George. After that I'd be on the fence as to whether I'd prefer players like Raynaud, Kalkbrennar, Powell, Saraf, Gonzalez, or Jones.

I'm not sure I would give up either of those picks for George if I were Boston, let alone both. There's some solid talent in the 25-40 range of this class. Feels like Boston walking away with, say, Kalkbrenner or Raynaud and Thiero or Drake Powell would be a better outcome than George.
