Guys we should look to trade because they had roles that fit their skill set more and had career years. Those players are RJ, Yak and Ochai. You trade them cause I believe those players have all time high trade value and Yak/RJ are looking for new contracts soon. Ochai this summer. We can't pay everyone.
Do people really think this? That those three underwhelmed “for development”. Scottie get to do whatever he wants. That’s not going to change unless the roster front office or coach changes.
Dick can’t defend, is weak and an inconsistent shooter so far? IQ is a poor defender. What part of their games were they developing at the expense of their strengths?
You can hide Gradey more on defense instead of letting him sink on defense the way Knicks protect Brunson but our defensive personal is not great overall so there is that. IQ was asked to be more on ball and be a primary decision maker which he struggles at, he is naturally an off ball shooter/scorer. Scottie was asked to self generate offense more off the dribble and took much more above the break 3's while also being our full time defensive 'stopper'.

Had a feeling they'd join in.
Wonder if Atlanta tries to go for him too.

3) we explore other trade options and that is it
or to see what's out there and see if you can get in on it for cheap and to better the roster. But I guess it's easier to say that Masai is cooked, so please go on.
Masai has had 6 really bad years after an all-time elite 9 year GM run spanning the Nuggets and Raptors. It is what it is.
I'd argue he only really had 3:
2020/21 - The start of the Raptors center woes. I get they couldn't trade Kyle without his approval for non-basketball reasons but the Powell trade backfired almost immediately given you paid Trent almost the exact same AAV, Powell was and remains a better player and he wanted to be here. Yes you got Scottie out of this season but a lot of the team's biggest cracks for the Siakam era started to form.
2021/22 - Yes they made the postseason but the Thad Young trade remains one of the most consequential trades in recent memory when they allegedly wanted Nembhard (Gone 2 picks ahead of them) and missed out on Walker Kessler as a cheap "test run" for their center issue. Instead, they dumped Dragic using their 1st and got awful value compared to, say, the Celtics getting D-White for the same and a future swap.
2022/23 - Should have blown it up but failed to do so and while the Poeltl trade was fair value, it was the worst possible decision to go with when you were out of the playoff picture and the team overall was rife with chemistry issues. I still think they got good value out of what few assets they got from O.G. & Siakam the year after but you could have gotten more if you seriously engaged with teams - and you got jack **** for Fred & Gary who both walked for nothing.
All other years were either good when it came to management's moves (2019/20 and 2024/25) or were just the results of the mistakes of previous years i.e. the 2023/24 season and the Siakam trade when you should have moved him at 2023's deadline.

Substitute Konchar and edey with Clark & GG Jackson.
If this does happen with the 2026 Magic/Suns pick going to Phoenix...good fu*king lord is that swap business going to get complicated.

Didn't Durant say he didnt want to go to MEM? Or was that Butler?
Edey + a couple of the Orlando picks gives them a big that they want and some lower end draft capital

Why is he worth hiding on defense, he doesn't shoot well enough to make it worth it. I'm not going argue with you, but I think these are things we like to tell ourselves. IQ was put in a place to make decisions because we committed to making him our starting PG really quickly and with out due diligence for some reason. I Like him as a player, but as a 6th man, type. At his current deal, I'd be ok if we could just erase it completely and see if we can improve Shead's shooting or draft a guard.
Again on Scottie, I think he just is gonna do what ever he wants. If he feels like bombing away, he will, if he feels like sitting he will, if he feels like playing he will, if he feels like not challenging a known 3pt shooter he will, if he feels like taking the Tech FT even though he's not the best FT shooter he will - there is no reason to think that Scottie is not calling the shots, at least this far. Darko will say lot of untrue things, or lies, as their often called to shield scrutiny from scottie or for themselves for not having any. think of the time Darko had told the Media, yes I spoke with Scottie about that, only for Scottie to say that it didnt happen.

ArthurVandelay wrote:From reading Heat fan/blog comments, Ware seems to be the sticking point. If Ware was included, KD would be Miami bound imo.
The 3 KD prefered destinations just need to provide a package that meets the conditions that the Suns want (A good C, player/prospect and a pick), and therefore will be equivalent to the Minny/TO packages. The Suns FO by all reports is willing to meet KD halfway.
The Heat are gambling that they don't need to do this because they can use the cap space better next offseason, or for KD himself if he goes to Toronto/Minny, instead of draining assets.
And of course, Giannis is a bigger fish that they're all interested in too.

KD (assuming 2 year extension) vs rj/yak.
or
cap space vs. rj/yak.
They need to get off RJ's contract #1

Nope to Sabonis.
Satire right? There is no way anyone wouldn't trade RJ Barrett for Kevin Durant straight up??
It'll never be RJ for KD straight up

naw its all just hype from PHX. They put out 2 seperate fake packages from TOR and Minny yesterday
What was the fake package ?
I have only seen so far a combination of 2 of Quickley / RJ / Poeltl plus the 9.
Why would it be fake ?

Mouthpeice gambo says Tor offering 9, jak, RJ, IQ .. doesn't even work legally
Then leaks Minny's package ... but Minny isn't even there since KD hasn't committed

I don't think that would appeal to Sacramento. I think of him more as an old school PF. Wonder how he would do next to a guy like Bam.
Similar to how he did next to Miles Turner.

Gambo probably just misinterpreted the RJ/ Poeltl / Quickley being offered without understanding it’s not all three together

And it's fake just as I said. Toronto is not offering all that for him so going back to my response, just gotta calm down and wait and see.

Yes, that's exactly what happened. Phoenix has dealer's choice here based on who they are targeting in the draft with #9.
Toronto will look to draft a back-up C with their 2nd round pick and maybe get a FA that KD ropes in. I'm sure we can move some more youth pieces for vet depth to help KD make a playoff run.

Why the team that got its one championship from trading for a true star, is afraid of losing picks and mid players for a true stars is baffling. We need less prospects we have to overpay just to find out they were never that good - and do all we can to lock up true talent that can help you win.
Yes Kawhi left after one year. But yes Spurs deciding to trade Kawhi to us, was the best decision Masai ever made and it’s not close.

This is a good point. If he doesnt want to commit to Yak long term makes sense to move off him now for a asset you want to (Ie KD).
