I could be wrong, but I think other teams writers' are probably manufacturing click bait when it comes to Paul George cap dumping trades.

First of all, Morey probably isn't going to take egg on his face and admit that Paul George was his mistake after 1 year that he needs to give up major value to move off of. I think they're reasonably hopeful for a bounce back year for the entire team.

Second of all, the Sixers are capped out regardless. Moving Paul George's contract even for expiring deals doesn't give the Sixers cap room anytime soon, so what's the point?

That said, trading down with Utah (#3 for #5 and #21) is pretty appealing. You'd have your choice of at least 2 of Ace/Kon/Tre/VJ at that spot, though my preference there would be Kon. At #21, you have options to see if anybody appealing slips or trade it for a pick in next year's stronger draft.

Trading PG only makes sense if we’re trading Joel too.
always a jump shot away.

KOC's article has the own answer in front of his eyes. If the Spurs want to move down, the team that would want to move up would be the Sixers. Considering the reasons he states about the Sixers in his own article. No options that are 100% perfect for them at 3. Harper to the Sixers just makes too much sense not to happen or way or the other.

Could VJ be any less similar to Cam Thomas? Don't understand that comparison at all.

I don't think Joel being traded is likely because it would be tough to ever get something approaching positive value for him at his salary.

But medical retirement is probably a non-zero chance of happening. Joel keeps his money, and the Sixers get off of his contract occupying the cap.

That leaves maybe Maxey, Grimes, and a few rookie scale contracts: a very favorable cap situation with enough space to plan a rebuild.

That really confused me as well. I'm not sure of that for the wrong player or just his tier level in the league or somethng. Very strange.

Don't draft VJ at 3. He too little and gonna be like a 4- 5 option at best. I think VJ is not special for 2 and definitely not for a 1. He's a undeersized 3. Ace is what philly needs badly. Worth the risk.

Top-tier options get brought in and wined and dined.

Non-options get relegated to Zoom lol.

If Morey was playing games with his interest in Kon, he'd at least bring him in for a visit.

But he knows no one will buy it except for a few BPMcels, so why bother?

If VJ didn't look like Jimmy Butler in the face y'all wouldn't even be tryna draft him at 3.

If we get Harper, I think it will be from calling the Spurs bluff. I think the leaks around VJ are intended as a bargaining signal to the Spurs more than to the CHA or NO of the world looking to trade up.

The message is that we’re perfectly happy to take VJ at 3 so the Spurs need to accept low compensation if we swap picks. If the Spurs truly don’t want Harper because of fit issues, I bet they just take their BPA at 2 and we get to select Harper at 3.

This is definitely part of the rationale for the leaks. There are a lot of reasons to make it seem like we love VJ.

For the record, I think Morey and his evaluators genuinely like VJ at 3. It just so happens that leaking that opinion has potential benefits.

I've heard it all now to know that misinformation out there. Daryl isn't trading down to get rid of George. That would be ridiculous. Just people speculating from the outside on what makes sense for this team, but that doesn't even make sense.

Agreed with Joel here, why reduce or give up an asset to get rid of George?
