Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Sun May 18, 2025 5:08 pm

The emergence of Victor Wembanyama may have singlehandedly convinced teams to resume their search for other Unicorns around the world.

If I never looked at a mock draft and only went by his highlights I would say he gets drafted in the top 10. Look how mobile he is, look at his vision, passing, and size. Must have!

Was trained to play point guard before hitting a growth spurt. That is when coach Wang decided to train his interior playmaking4.

Wonder if he will be there at 22. Would be a no brainer pick there. I probably wouldn't be upset if we took him at 13 either, even though I haven't seen a lot of film on him yet. The size alone is intriguing. The offensive upside as a playmaker and floor spacer is even better. The real question will be if he can be a difference maker on defense.

:D

HUGE HANDS!!

This one thing sells me on a center that is over 7' tall!
Just standing around, close to the goal on both ends of the floor.
Catch and dunk! Huge hands!
Guard the goal on defense. Huge hands.
In his youth, trained as a PG! Wow! Just Wow!

Would be fine with #13. Ecstatic with a #22!

Now this is interesting.

(I'd much rather gamble on Yang at #22 than Sarr at #1.)

Yang has a chance to stick in the pros as a throwback big with a massive 7-1 frame. Coming from China, he plays with an old-school style with polished footwork, touch and craft around the basket, and some slick passing skills. Yang consistently makes quick reads out of the post and on handoffs, so he can do some of the things you’d see from an Alperen Şengün or Isaiah Hartenstein type of big. And much like them, he flashes a shooting touch that might translate.

Defensively, he’s a strong positional rebounder and space-eater in the paint who uses his size to wall off drivers and clean the glass. But Yang hasn’t shown the foot speed to defend in space or comfortably switch, even against Chinese competition. If anything holds him back from carving out an NBA career, it’ll be his defense.

But Yang’s offensive talent gives him a chance to be the best Chinese big man to play in the NBA since Yao Ming. And if his athleticism improves to the point he can survive on defense, then his offensive upside gives him the potential to be a major steal.

Think #13 is a sweet spot for a wing (which we need). No more Mann / LeVert / Vit at the 3

Thn #22 is definately a sweet spot for bigs. Raynaud / Yang / Beringer / Sorber / Wolf. Two or four of those guys should be there

Old country boy measuring. Take a foot ruler. Taking both hands, measure 12" and it takes most of both hands.
@ 11.25 he need only one hand and add just .75 to get that full foot! Yep. Good sized hands!

Indeed.
He needs to watch Jordan footage and the tricks he used while palming the basketball.
