Learn 6 Languages, then come back and talk to me in your SIXTH language and I’ll check your grammar , good luck or maybe just learn 2 for starters , Let’s check if your second can reach Elementary school level
What are you even talking about? There’s no reason to be “loyal” to the incompetent nepo baby who was entirely over her head when it came to running the Lakers.
Jeanie whilst not perfect brought you guys a chip and did a better job than her brothers.
She deserves quite a bit more respect and acknowledgement for her role, especially being a female owner in a cut throat industry dominated by Men.
It's never been harder to win/contend for a chip in today's NBA and era of Parity.
The Lakeshow glory decades of dominance is over, Shaq is not walking through that door again
I didn't mind Jeanie but the expectation now is the Lakers should be way smarter than they were during her reign.
She literally had Rambis and Co. attached after years of borderline malpractice around the league and a lot of her hires were basically close friends. I mean they were without a major analytics department for years. Now they have the guggenheim group backing them.

I honestly reckon her gender played a part in the Jeanie criticism from Lakers fans, even though she was the only off-spring of Dr Buss that any true idea of how to run a basketball team.
Anyhow I hope most Lakers fans aren't naive or gullible enough to assume the Show time days and decades of dominance are back because they have no ideas.
Adam Silver and the current and future CBA will ensure no team in the NBA can 'buy their way' to a ring and Dynasty like the Lakers did since the 1980s.
Unfortunately it seems many of the Lakers fans posting in this thread have not gotten that memo.
I wonder who they will blame next year when they crash out in the first round of the play-offs again ??

MLB doesn't have the stringent luxury tax and apron strings that the NBA does though
Lack of draft pick capital and young player assets is going to be harder for the Lakers to build a contender around Luka for a couple of years.
You rarely see a Superstar like Prime Shaq join another team as a Free Agent any more. Also the Thunder and Spurs will be dominating the West for the next decade plus. Lakers fans will be waiting a long while before they are back playing finals

true, so there's no immediate results
but guggenheim group is aggressive. that's the aura to be expected. the podcast does a good job of amplifying the collateral results

The sad reality is that someone like Dr Buss, a very daring and adveturous mind who helped make the NBA the popular product it is now, can't buy the Pelicans or the Hornets im todays valuations and FCF requirements to be able to operate a franchise.

This feels like cope that the Lakers don't have a mid-awful ownership anymore IMO the whole plus to me is that this ownership knows how to create infrastructure.
Of course the results won't be instantaneous, but guggenheim have shown to make the right move and hire the right people every time. A big thing for me is knowing they will invest in the right things without sacrificing any of the margins like analytics, supporting scouting, etc... something the buss family has unfortunately penny pinched for years.
Let's see how it plays out.

Bill Simmons reckons both expansion teams (Seattle and Probably Vegas) will be purchased at 6 Billion Dollars each.
For all the gnawing and complaining about falling TV ratings etc NBA Franchises have never been more valuable than what they are right now
One could only hope Jerry Reinsdorf can see the light and sell the Bulls, that franchise and their fans deserve a long overdue fresh start.

The biggest argument for them being worth this much is that someone just paid it.
I get that, but people overpay for assets all the time.
The list of owners who put more money into a team then they got when they sold us very very short. There is not a history of people overpaying for an nba team.
Having said that, maybe this will be one if those rare times?

lol the NBA has grown from $35 million per year in revenue in the 1970s to now over $10 BILLION per year.
Of course buying a team is now a completely different animal.
The league is hundreds of times larger/more valuable.

Re: BREAKING: Shams: The Buss Family Has Agreed to Sell Majority Ownership of the Los Angeles Lakers for $10 Billion
The Lakers are an iconic brand but $10 billion is bonkers, more than any NFL, MLB, or Premier League team has ever sold(by a lot) for and it doesn't even include the arena.
New owner has deeper pockets than Buss and has done a good job operating the Dodgers, Lakers fans should be happy.

The rest of the league just went, "Uh oh".
