Bailey sounds like a real diva and we as a franchise don't have a great track record when dealing with divas. Not saying that we definitely shouldn't take him but he sure isn't doing himself any favors during this pre-draft process. This whole situation is a major red flag IMO.
Could his refusal to work out with teams be a strategy to force his way to a bigger market team like the Nets or Bulls? If that's the case, part of me can't really blame him considering the teams that are picking immediately after us.

What Bailey needs to understand is that being drafted high is his best chance to stick in the league. A top-3 pick gets you opportunity by default, teams are financially and reputationally invested in seeing you succeed.
But from the outside, it doesn’t look like Bailey is targeting the right kind of team for his “pathway to stardom” like what was reported. It feels more like he’s trying to avoid exposure, avoid situations where his weaknesses like low IQ (both on and off the court), questionable decision making, and poor shooting (he airballed at the combine; shooting numbers) would get put under a spotlight.

That’s Te’a Cooper/Shariff Cooper dad. I don’t think he’s guiding/giving Ace sound advice during this whole process which is unfortunate. That’s me assuming unless Ace parents are behind this.

Re: 2024-2025 College Basketball / NBA Draft - Volume III
The problem with this whole Ace Bailey situation is that it makes trading down much more complicated, especially if both the Hornets and Jazz are leaning toward safer picks like Tre Johnson or Kon Kneuppel over taking a swing on Bailey.
If the Sixers move down to 6 or 7, they’re looking at a tier of prospects like Jeremiah Fears, Kasparas Jakucionis, or Maluach, which is the consensus next tier. That’s probably why Wizards and Pelicans are trying hard to move up, because they know once you’re outside that top 5 tier, the talent drop-off is real.
The most likely scenario where we move off the 3rd pick is if the Spurs view VJ as a better fit or same tier with Harper or the Hornets and Jazz see Edgecombe as clearly a tier above Tre Johnson and Kneuppel, or the Wizards and Pelicans come in with a strong enough offer to blow us away.

Not that surprising based on the reporting out there regarding his personality. It’s pretty amazing how entitled some of these players are for no reason.

But, he's/this pick is far more important to Philly than Kuminga is to GS. Steph still trying to win rings with veterans.... Philly needs a contingency for their veterans
Reed Sheppard was the third overall pick just last year and saw essentially zero burn on a stacked Rockets squad. Same thing with Rob Dillingham on the Wolves.
I don't blame a youngster for not wanting to get buried on a playoff roster, but at the same time as a wing and with his alleged profile, I'd be licking my chops looking at the 76ers depth chart. There's a golden pathway for him to walk right into that starting SF/PF spot from day one. Even more-so now with Yabusele halfway out the door.
It's his career though, and it's his right to choose what he feels like is the very best decision to maximize his resources.
So make the promises Daryl.... Make the promises.
Making promises is how you end up with Larry Hughes instead of Paul Pierce/Dirk

Regardless of the final outcome, of course this happens with the Sixers in the middle of it lol
Also, kinda crazy to me that he would want to slide. He loses about $1M per year each pick he slides. If he slid to Brooklyn, his salary would be about half of what it would be if the Sixers or if a team wanted to trade up would select him. The only way this strategy would make sense to me is if Spurs, Charlotte, or maybe Utah promised him or he's getting bad advice IMO.

This is where I am at this point. I just hate having a glut of smallish guards. Whatever.

When I watch games of Ulm, I kind of like Ben Saraf more than Noa Essengue? Really nice feel for the game for his size (6'7.5'' in shoes) and obviously the jumper is a big concern, but the touch is certainly there given FT%, shots around the rim and his pull up game. He's not really shifty enough to defend guards, but as a wing I can see him being passable with the right NBA training programs.
Would certainly be an interesting option for #35 if he's still there.

always a jump shot away.
