To be fair, y'all are kind proving his point. If he had to wait two years to even add picks to get off of contracts (but he wants to rebuild as a young team), it goes against what he wants to do. If any of these guys are tradable, surely people would be lining up to message him for them?

I may not agree with the method of waiting two years to play hard-ball/raising this issue up, but I see his position.

I have an idea for the future, because I think the rule proposal thing is kinda flawed in that if the person proposing the rule doesn't have every single I dotted and T crossed and has a good but flawed bones of an idea, that maybe we should have a week prior to free agency or something to allow rule proposals to be suggested, tweaked, etc. and then at the end of the week they're voted on?

I think it's tough to perfectly predict what the people's reaction will be to a rule proposal, so to not force people to have to wait an entire season just because their initial idea/rule wasn't received positively is silly imo. Maybe we have a week where we propose ideas ourselves and then all of us can think tank and hammer the ideas out if they are "ok I agree with the idea but the fine print needs to be fixed and settled" type ideas..

In seriousness, this. We had a similar issue last year where rules got proposed and then tweaks to them would have gotten them passed but we were too late.

Honestly, like we all kinda agree that Mecca's idea has some merit to it, but because he was too vague and wasn't able to predict others reactions and issues with the idea now he and all of us have to wait an entire other season just to wait for the new idea to pass?

Kinda silly. The NBA does not operate that way with rule changes I'm sure.

Maybe it's to help out bishs workload But I think all of us here can handle proposing ideas and discussing them for a week and then going to Bish at the end with the idea fixed up and think tanked.

Also I forgot about the rule last year that a lot of us agreed with, Is it not being proposed this year after we all think tanked it??

The NBA doesn't operate this way bc they don't have to worry about dearth of committed owners..

I'm hoping bish accepts mine 'cause I didn't see any announcement about the rules. If so, my bad.

I waited a year to draft it but mine was for using the two 2-way spots in the game now that I wanted us to do last year as well, so we have 17 players rostered. Creates 60 new spots. 50 games playable max for the assigned two-way players, counts against cap (unlike the NBA) just to make it easy on bish, TW players have to stay there the entire year and then next season can be swapped into main roster.

Technically I feel like that's not even technically a "rule" but more quality of life. I get the system of this but I feel like we should be able to discuss or add this without there being much hiccups if it's simple enough if bish accepts. We're having to cut too many players and work with limited spots compared to NBA teams who can have like 20 guys now. Plus, the feature has been in the game and we're not using it.

The rule as written would be good going forward, and just looking at things practically, the amount it benefits Mecca and MDB isn't really enough to outweigh in my opinion the benefits in the future

The rule proposal from last year would have had to be rewritten with the suggested changes reflected and formally resubmitted. My guess is, it wasn’t. Or else bish would have announced it.

A counter point...Smart/Harris/Levert were productive players even 3 years ago. He could have moved them for equally bad contracts or worse get draft capital ect. He could have maintained a tank but got a worse less productive player on a similar deal but got a pick or picks attached to it.

Not saying you would do this but Seth Curry a far less impactful player for Levert but you attached a pick with Curry is a scenario that could have worked probably a year ago.

I'm sure when Marcus Smart was getting 90 DEF ratings in the SIM he could have been moved for a bad $200 contract on the ease. I know that because I was trying to work my cap to try to bring him in at one point I just never proposed anything because I didn't have the cap flex with nearly 2 players making $900 for the last few years. So I had to live more in the $30-$100 role player market.

When he got that team initially - I could have moved all of those contracts- I remember thinking of all of the destinations but as you said HS- you have to be flexible and understand the "value" of your contracts and under when you have "leverage" and when you dont.
