I'm sure this has been posted, but would SA move back one spot and take VJ? He's a better fit positionally with Fox/Castle (Vassell can play the 3, I assume)
SA sends #2
Philly sends #3/2028 Clipper 1st and the 2029 Clip/Sixer swap rights
I saw something that Philly like Harper a lot, and would move Maxey off the ball some
Grimes can play some 3 too so they'd have
Harper/Maxey
Maxey/McCain/Grimes
PG13/Grimes
?
Embiid
Spurs get VJ and go with (for this year)
Fox/Castle
Vassell/VJ
Barnes/KJohnson
Sochan/Barnes
Wemby/Sorber (#14)
they add a great future asset

Re: SA-Sixers
I think Philly does this, hard to give up that last great asset of the LA pick, but taking the chance on Harper—and the lucky fact that SA happens to be a rough fit for him—would be even harder to pass up.
Also VJ does fit pretty well with them considering he’s a solid spot up guy and they already have Castle and Fox to initiate from the backcourt. That’s the only major issue with him and it’d be minimized on the spurs. Still unlikely they’d rather have him than the upside swing of Harper.

Re: SA-Sixers
This whole concept is contingent on SA not seeing Harper as a tier above Bailey/VJ/Tre/etc. as a prospect. Which they might, but we have no way of knowing and would certainly buck the conventional wisdom.

Re: SA-Sixers
I wouldn't hate it, but there would need to be a follow up trade that includes moving one or maybe even two of Jared McCain/Tryese Maxey/or Quentin Grimes. There simply would be too many guards on the 76ers roster that need significant playing time if they add Harper.

Re: SA-Sixers
Wasn't it reported that the 76ers already offered MULTIPLE first round picks to move up to 2 and were rejected by the Spurs?

I found the report. I am not sure about the credibility of Brett Siegel/Clutch Points one way or another though.wemby wrote:Wasn't it reported that the 76ers already offered MULTIPLE first round picks to move up to 2 and were rejected by the Spurs?

The Spurs aren't trading Harper unless it's for an insane overpay.
