Wouldn't be so sure about that now. Dodgers' owner bought the Lakers. If they want to make a change because Pelinka wasn't their hire, anything is possible.

Pelinka got Luka to the Lakers, I’d think that secures his job for at least a few seasons.

They don’t need to let Pelinka go. The Lakers have no front office infrastructure. Pelinka is POBO and GM and everything else. I expect the new owners to bring in someone above him to install a high level scouting and analytics operations (Lakers spend almost nothing here). Maybe they build a junior team under Pelinka, but he doesn’t have the experience to do what they’ll want to do.

i kinda see what you mean. it used to be the buss that did scouting, so i guess someone to build out the infrastracture....i guess you right this could be Sam Presti's right-hand man, or Sam presti himself.....

have the star player, and draft the team around him.

so it seems like lakers won't be trading anymore picks then....

or maybe bring over Ujiri

I'm surprised no team has tried to poach Sam Presti out of OKC for the last 18 years. Wonder how much Bennett is paying him, cause he's basically responsible for all the success that franchise has had.

koc has no real connections

so i listened to it. it was esfander berhami that said it. he's a local raptors podcaster who has zero connections. then later in the conversation koc just re-iterated what esfander said.

while there may be pressure, i don't think the local guys would know about it.

The RR guys definitely have connections to the Raptors. But whether this is sourced or really just more of the same speculation about Masai re his job security is up in the air.

Wonder if there's some 3-way trade where we get 29 and Wiggins or something akin to that.

Good. As long as Raptors are not involved in receiving Durant or Sabonas...

I have no doubt TOR was interested but it was likely amplified by media to create more hype around the situation

It's kind of weird that Shams hasn't mentioned us even ONCE in the KD talks.

The hold ups, imo:

From Miami they want Ware
From Houston they want one of Eason or Thompson
From SA they want Castle

They have the Minnesota offer
They know what Raptors are willing to offer

The fact that Shams has never mentioned the Raptors once is pretty telling.

I think Presti likes being a big fish in a small pond. Imagine the pressure of trying to win in a market like New York where you’d have meddling owners. OKC essentially allowed him to go through his process and the result is one team away from a championship. You wouldn’t get the same leeway in Chicago for example.

Definitely gets paid well. He also has complete autonomy, is under little scrutiny, and has little in terms of media/fan expectations. Their arena is tax payer funded. They get revenue sharing and the NBA can care less what they do. Unless he feels the pull of a big market, why leave that situation? The job is his for life.

Raps were a Woj team.

Shams reps the Heat. Any rumour involving driving the price up for the Heat is going to get crickets from Shams.

Same, I've been calling for this for at least a week or two. I am not enamoured by this roster and think at least this will be entertaining, one way or another.

So if the KD thing isn’t happening and we are moving on to Malik ‘the big fish’ Monk, I wonder how that deal might be constructed.
Perhaps if we moved IQ to the Kings for Monk, Val and some draft compensatio… maybe a spurs 1st 2027 they received from the fox trade, though to me that’s not enough.
When will we just change the name of 25 of the 30 teams to the Washington Generals?

Please advise….

My guess has always been Houston. If they are willing to give back that 2027 pick, that's more important than anything IMO

Like let's be real, PHX is going to have a tough team competing in the west even if they somehow hit home run moves around Booker.

In 12 months, what likely is going to happen, is that they look to move Booker and re-build. Getting back 2027 is VITAL.

That trade makes absolutely 0 sense unless RJ is headed out or there is a follow up trade to move him. We have too many players that are identical or have a ton of overlapping skill set. RJ has largely become redundant with BI here, and Monk and him offer essentially much of the same production wise.
