My theory is the TV deal is inflated in that there is no guarantee the next one will as large as this one was in comparison to the one prior & the economics of the last CBA makes covering the cost of star players harder to do.

It’s why a lot of owners are selling now because the books look good now but might not look so good when the star player is owed around 100 million a year and you owe not just the luxury tax, but are in the 1st or 2nd aprons.

I also wonder if the lack of arena ownership another reason these specific teams are selling. That that is completely speculative.

Seriously though I don't think anyone really understood how the aprons would mess up the game, they were so fixated on ending the big three era they priced themselves out of maintaining full ownership.

There is talk about LeBron forming his own league. The world is moving away from cable/packages so when there are big money moves like this ... I think you are on the right track.

Suns are hell bent on getting that center. They also won't trade Booker and can't trade Beal so you can't have all 3. If the Nets agree with you and I, they could easily sweeten the pot.

Phoenix is so screwed because no one is budging on Durant and I don't blame them.

If Booker didn't genuinely love living in Phoenix, he'd be forcing his way out

Clyde always gets left out of these conversations.

I'm not putting Shai over Nash right now though. People need to relax.

Green is a much better player.

So does Claxton, #18 and two picks out of the future vault get that done? Because PHX does not want Green and they desperately want a center.

Shai is an incredible player and will be a hall of famer but I'm not putting him over Steve Nash.

I think Shai is more of a combo 2 honestly and his assist numbers aren't touching multiple players not on this list.

Probably if Phoenix is that desperate. I doubt Durant wants to go back there though.

Oh no, the original concept was "Suns declined Green and Smith for Durant" and my fix was re-route Green to the Nets for Claxton.

Claxton/Richards
Smith/
Allen/Oneal
Booker/Beal
???

i assume they get one of their own picks back from the Rockets.

He's a very different type of player than Nash but as far as playing PG he plays the position he plays. There miiiiight still be an argument that Nash was a better offensive player. Still, I would build a team around him before Nash based on the fact that you're getting an excellent defensive player who can dominate an opposing POA player in addition to a franchise level scorer. Then, he can dish well too. There being no weaknesses on any side of the ball and then things he can do dominantly is the reason he'll be playing for championships in coming years.

That said, SGA sucks and there are way better (and cheaper) options in BAF Free Agency this summer.

Nothing against Shai, but this is a lot of "right guy right time" contributing to his success. He is a great player having a great season, but the team is really well constructed and built for what he does. Not sure that prime Iverson, Kevin Johnson, Baron Davis (just from that one era) would have done any worse.

Lot's of really great guards over time. Also against him (like if Harden were on the list) is the free-throw merchant thing. Hard to put a guy on an all-time category when it feels like the Refs are propping him up.
