Giannis to GSW (4 team ESPN trade)

Post#1 » by _NoMas » Thu Jun 19, 2025 12:54 pm

I usually find the ESPN trades bang average but this one, despite being massively ambitious and highly unlikely, seems pretty good for all involved, interested to hear others views on it:

GSW in - Giannis
GSW out - Draymond Green, Kuminga, Podziemski, Trayce Jackson - Davis, 2029 and 2031 frp, 2025 2rp (pick 41)

Lakers in - Draymond Green, Daniel Gafford
Lakers out - Gabe Vincent, Austin Reaves, Maxi Kleber, 2031 frp, 2030 fr swap

Dallas in - Gabe Vincent, Lakers 2031 frp, 2025 2rp (41)
Dallas out - Daniel Gafford Lakers

Milwaukee in - Reaves, Podziemski, Kuminga (sign and trade), TJD, Kleber, 2029 and 31 frps from Golden state and 2030 swap with lakers.

Who’s the biggest loser from this? (Assuming Gs is the big winner…).

Gafford isn't worth unprotected 1st let alone adding Reaves for unstable Green swap...
GSW don't have the assets to get Giannis.

This is awful for Milwaukee. A few guys who are high-end role players at best and far out picks from a big market team that wont ever be bad enough for those picks to be elite assets.

This is really bad. Dallas makes out like bandits for no reason and of course GSW gets Giannis on the cheap. Always check the deal for each team before deciding its great. A quick look sees how bad it is for the Bucks and Lakers.

On balance yeah you’re right Milwaukee could get far more valuable picks from, for example, the spurs.

I saw this on espn. I thought it’s light for Milwaukee and that Dallas is stealing value.
I would guess that if Giannis goes on the market there will be better offers.

This is clearly ESPN click bait designed to fill the void left by Giannis not asking out.

This is a garbage trade. What value are the Bucks actually getting here? I don't see any players worthwhile here on the Bucks side. The Picks are not going to be premium picks.Sorry, but the Warriors simply do not have assets to get Giannis, period.

I'd call this a flaming homer trade if a fellow Warrior fan posted it.

If Giannis is on the market the Warriors aren't relevant.

ESPN thinks Giannis can be had for a couple of picks an role players in all of their trades - Never post of ESPN trade

ESPN is the driving force behind getting Giannis out of Milwaukee - Network sucks

They think they can get fans from 3 of the largest markets to click on the link.

Whoever put this together just found the first option that made the salaries match and then tossed around picks without any consideration

Absurd to thunk GSW gets Giannis Antetokounmpo they don't have assets to do so. Milwaukee wouldn't accept this anyways. Podziemski, Kuminga and Reaves are solid complementary players but nobody has star let alone superstar value. The Lakers picks also look super late

Can’t combine picks in this draft and a sign and trade like Kuminga in the same trade. Amongst other issues that have already been pointed out.

But also, this isn’t an espn trade. No one put their name on it. They copied it from a junk Warriors fan sided site or something.

Trade is pretty contingent on the Lakers and GS going into the toilet after LeBron and Steph retire in the next couple of years. With Luka and Giannis, that seems a bit unlikely. If that's the strategy, one of them got to take Dame and help the Bucks flexibility while limiting their own.

Even then, Dame would be off the books by the time the Lakers and Warriors need to reload. Luka or Giannis, cap space and those markets make that a snap.

This trade requires more future capital from the Lakers and Warriors and a crystal ball that says Luka turns into Oliver Miller or Giannis gets a serious injury

I hate the way the current sports media environment upcycles junk like this into something that seems like actual news instead of just some random fan's fantasy

One of the worst trades I’ve ever seen, Bucks get nothing but crap. It would be better to let Giannis walk then suffer an indignity like this. Not remotely close.
