Rockets secure go-to scorer who fits their timeline

Ja Morant
John Konchar

Grizzlies stay competitive, load up draft capital for upgrades around Reed Sheppard, JJJ, Aldama, Edey

FVV
Reed Sheppard
#10
2027 Suns 1st unprotected
2029 Suns/Mavs 1st unprotected (more favorable)

The not so terribly efficient high usage creation guys.... Ja, Trae, Melo, etc....are the hardest group of players for me to evaluate.

Is Ja even good? I am not so sure.....
.

I think I'd rather just stick with FVV on a smaller deal and see what Reed becomes.

A couple of firsts less than I suggested a few days ago. Still, less is better.
Not sure which guy Houston prefers to ship out of Vleet, Green, Whitmore or Sheppard.
Don’t need Vleet if adding Ja but might be nice to keep him.

Agree. At least Trae can shoot. Ja isn’t a great shooter, is always hurt, has character issues and relies way too much on his athleticism. Lamelo is just a low BBIQ guy playing street ball on the court.

All available go-to scorers have their worts.

Better than not having one, or Jalen Green.

Solid value given Ja’s injury history. But the Grizz prefer as we should to build around Ja and Jaren.

We believe surrounding them with two way players especially wings will allow us to maximize their talent while taking our defense to another level.

The Rockets are not the right team for JA Morant. The main weakness the Rockets have outside of not having a go to scorer is the lack of shooting. Ja Morant covers the 1st part, but he compounds the shooting issues. I like Devin Booker or Derrick White much more on this team compared to JA.

I don't think the Grizz will trade Ja. He loves Memphis, is loved by the fans and has the ability to deliver an MVP level season. And no one in the NBA can get his own shot better than Ja.

But I would do this deal if I ran Grizz. Fvv just an expiring deal to cut payroll. Sheppard has the potential to be the elite shooter and solid defender the Grizz need. But he is still just an unproven prospects. The picks give the Grizz more ammo to trade for an elite SF or build depth. Or find a PG if Sheppard busts.

I don't see either team doing it, but Memphis moreso. It sounds like they want to keep making the playoffs, which moving Ja would nix.

What freaking solid about it? #10 is garbage, Sheppard is garbage, 2 1sts? Like we don’t have 10 already.

OP is a joke from the Memphis perspective.

I didn’t say I would do it lol. Ja has far more value to us because he is the first real guy we have had. I have no interest in trading 12. But given his current low value this offer ain’t the worst; obviously we would never trade him or Jaren (Spurs threads) to a division rival either.

Ja, Zion, and Embiid are too risky to trade for unless you're desperate. The price would have to go down.
