Sounds like people here complaining about Thibs. Just replace Dillon Brooks with Josh Hart and putting Jah in late witha big lead with JB.

HAving said that, Griz have had an offensive identity, and I think she overestimates their talent.

Listening to Fred Katz podcast where he had James edwards on yesterday two things

1. Rick Brunson wants no part of being an nba coach it’s just not something he wants. So people can stop making that joke
2. It seems like Jenkins is the “favorite” if you take Kidd out of it which they said something could still be there

They also mentioned as much as Jenkins has to convince Leon and crew, they talk about how Jenkins wanting control of his asst as well and wants to make sure it’s his show to run

I have no sympathy for the gun stuff. Anyone else would be doing time for that.

I was under the premise that the FO had a plan when firing Thibs. It is clear we did not. It is also clear that Dolan is back to doing the same knee jerking **** hes always done. FK Jenkins, whos left but scrubs?

There was a great article in The Strickland posted in the other thread but I think something that is hinted at but not said directly about the Thibs firing in the better Knicks media out there is that the cold war that had been simmering between the FO and Thibs was about to get HOT this year. More than anything, that was about nipping that conflict in the bud because once you start going downhill with Thibs he digs harder and harder, starts using the media, and things of that nature. This is actually his cleanest departure of his three stops.

Both Jenkins and Brown are much more flexible with how they work with front offices and that's probably a high level factor as to why their candidacy (and not Mike Malone, for example) is reported to be gaining traction.

If those really are the choices, I'm with you that Jenkins is the far more intriguing option. I'd worry about defense under Brown.

Mike Brown: If the Knicks want to unlock their offense and build around Brunson & Towns.

Taylor Jenkins: Ideal if the Knicks prefer youth development and culture-building.

Considering we just reached the conference finals, I doubt we looking for player development or culture building. My gut tells me Mike Brown.

I know I'll probably change my mind a hundred times but as of right now, I'd go with Brown over Jenkins if they are the final two candidates. I just feel more comfortable going with the experience of Brown.

Jenkins inexpereince makes me a little nervous for this gig. We are expected to win the division and compete for the championship and I think we got a better shot going with the guy who has 28 years of experience, 2x coach of the year, coached a 66 win team, made the Finals, won titles as an assistant with GSW, resurrected the Kings (one of the hardest things to do!) and has coached all time greats like LeBum, Kobe and Steph.

You just have to hope that whatever the front office wants the coach to be aligned with, results in a chip. If not, then imo firing Thibs was just a bad decision and we should’ve just let him cook. Time will tell.

So it seems that there is only certain things that fans or media think is a plan when firing Thibs.

Having someone already lined up to hire immediately after the firing...ok, well, I guess there is only one thing, not things, that fans and media think is a plan when firing a coach. This is the only 'plan' that doesn't constitute a 'clown show' as some have taken to calling this.

Establishing who the candidates are and going through an interview process with them...which is pretty much the standard way franchises usually go through finding a coach doesn't seem to be a plan to people. That's a clown show according to them.

Hmm....interesting. Clown show is definitely a phrase I'm reminded of when reading the commentary about this but maybe not in the way that those who use it intended.

The Knicks' front office, led by team president Leon Rose, continues to leverage their relationships throughout this search. The team is still gathering information on various candidates. Targets like Kidd and Jenkins have indeed emerged as ‘early favorites.'

Typically, however, New York performs its organizational due diligence. Here, that means continuing to collect intelligence on top candidates from all over their list as they wait on Kidd and the Mavericks.

Some of those coaches have experience at the NBA level, like Kidd himself and Jenkins. Sources familiar with the situation tell ClutchPoints the Knicks are also still looking into, and organizing thoughts on, candidates who coach at the collegiate level.

With regard to Kidd and the team's steady interest in him as their potential next head coach, the Mavericks' rejection of the Knicks' request to interview Kidd didn't stop the chase. The ‘mutual interest' reported to exist between Kidd and the Knicks was a sign that it wouldn't.

Until Kidd and the Mavericks either reach an agreement on an extension and raise or agree to leave their contract as-is, the proverbial door technically remains open. Sources tell ClutchPoints the Knicks will pursue Kidd until that door is firmly shut.

If Kidd and the Mavericks make a final decision to continue their partnership, the Knicks will need to move on. They won't have to conduct much of a ‘pivot,' though. They will need to break down and continue to supplement the information they've gathered on other top candidates.

Why does this feel like a shake down? Either Kidd gets an extension or he asks out…. Or he gets the extension and the Knicks hire Brown or Jenkins.

It’s weird how people blame Dolan yet 7 players complained about Thibs during the exit meetings. Leon was in a no win situation. Keeping Thibs could have killed morale

Return to New York Knicks
