In a Vacuum 10th Overall = Which Player?

Post#1 » by NYG » Fri Jun 20, 2025 1:30 am

Typically unless a superstar requests a trade pre-draft... we don't see picks traded for players in the earlier portion of the draft. So just gauging for pick 10 in a vacuum (ignoring it belongs to Houston and their specific needs)... which player would carry that value that is on the trade market and available for a pick in return?

Draft kinda falls off after 8, although 9-14 is all the same tier on my board. I think you could get Coby White for 10 straight up but idk if Bulls fans disagree. Feels like they aren't trying to resign him, but he's still good as a scoring guard.

Coby White(expiring contract, but showed that he can be a true 3rd option on a very good team)
Walker Kessler
Herb Jones
Josh Hart
Jaden Ivery(played only 30 games due to injury, but has shown flashes of potential)
Cam Johnson(may be a little high, but not far off)
Kevin Durant(may be a little low, but I don't see teams assigning a ton of value to a old Kevin Durant)
Andrew Nembhard

Herb Jones? Shaedon Sharpe if Portland not ready to commit? A Houston forward if they want to start the rookie clock over..Eason or Smith---Houston can trade with themselves but someone around that range? Lauri Markk?

Hmmm... is there a 10 to NOP... Herb Jones to Phoenix... KD to Houston kind of deal that could be leveled out in value for everyone?

Herb Jones would be a huge get for the Suns due the amount of defense he brings when healthy and the Suns are known to have major point of attack issues. However the Suns need a starting level Center and I wonder if the Suns are focus more on that than perimeter defense. There have been rumours that the Nets might end up being the 3rd team in a Kevin Durant that sends Nic Claxton to the Suns depending on the Nets asking price for him.

Looking at some of the names being mentioned I’ll throw out Payton Pritchard.
I don’t think he has top 10 value in this draft but I do think he has stronger value than a lot of the guys mentioned in the thread.

To me, the #10 pick is worth a good fitting fifth starter on a reasonable contract.

Still a starter, but fifth starters are also replaceable in Free Agency,
