Here damn…

Jerry Lucas wrote:Tier 1) Will not be available at Pick #9 (Worst rank no lower than 8):
Cooper Flagg
Dylan Harper
VJ Edgecombe

Tre Johnson

Tier 2) Could be available at Pick #9 but not guaranteed (Best rank no lower than 9 and Worst rank is lower than 9):
Jeremiah Fears
Ace Bailey
Kon Knueppel
Khaman Maluach
Derik Queen
Collin Murray-Boyles
Kasparas Jakucionis

Egor Demin
Nolan Traore
Noa Essengue
Carter Bryant

Tier 3) Other Masai-type FRPs that are probably mocked too low to be realistic options at Pick #9 (Best rank is lower than 9):
Asa Newell (Best rank is 11)
Jase Richardson (Best rank is 11)
Adou Thiero (Best rank is 20)

Well, Bryant was pretty underutilized at Arizona so it's no surprise. Out of every NCAA player on that list I would imagine that he averaged the least minutes per game. Although I wonder how much advanced stats factor into this as Bryant's advanced metrics are pretty good.

Bryant fell short in a few areas:

dPRPG (Defensive Points over Replacement per Adjusted Game At That Usage): 2.7
oBPM: 3.2
USG: 16.0
oWS-dWS: -0.011
My Masai/Bobby-type FRP Barttorvik queries: 4/4, zero misses

What is oWS-dWS.

Sounds like offensive minus defensive win shares which doesn't seem like the final number should disqualify someone if they were extra good at offense or defense.

I mean if Queen does not become the Pillsbury Dough Boy and gets in serious shape he is a hybrid with length and core skills. He is a Darko match on offence. He projects to be an improved perimeter shooter and switchable defender. He has the distribution skills to stay out of trouble and reduce his turnovers. He definitely w/be a culture fit on a Scottie led team.

It does. Masai-type FRPs have to show two-way potential, but offense actually has to be their calling card over defense in terms of the way they impact winning (Higher oWS/40 than dWS/40, but neither can be a weakness).

This is kind of a weird odds list, because the names that were left off already imply a top 10 of Flagg, Harper, Edgecombe, Bailey, Tre, Kon, Fears, Maluach, Queen, Jakucionis.

Edit: Also just realized Essengue isn't there either.

Those guys probably all have odds that begin with a -

CB is on the brink of the top 10 at these odds, and Demin is close, but essentially these odds say they’d be 11 and 12.

Did Essengue or Coward end up meeting the criteria for a “Masai type” of pick??

That is more than likely a coincidence as the vast majority of prospects have a higher ows than dws.
Like I don't think if Cooper Flagg had 2 more steals and 1 more block per game making him the greatest defensive prospect of all time the Raptors would suddenly say we're not drafting him since his defense is better than his offense.
