Dude, Chet might end up being better than Paolo one day but Paolo doesn’t have Jalen, SGA, and a whole a*** team to carry him to the finals. Paolo is basically playing the role of SGA with half the talent in Orlando. Chet is the third option lol.

This is the comp people have been making for years.

OKC will obviously consider trading him over the summer. Just that he may have hurt his trade value this year. He’s very injury prone and hasn’t developed offensively.

Not sure if he’d be able to get Giannis even with OKCs draft capital at this point.

Obviously Giannis is the big fish, but OKC doesn't need a Giannis to become a dynasty or a perennial championship level team. A Bam Adebayo, Sengun or even a Sabonis would suffice. They have the assets for these guys.

It is a weird bump.

But Chet is far from being a main guy, so how far Paolo went vs. Chet is completely meaningless. Paolo is a #1 guy. Chet is a #3.

Chet's on pace to be another Jon Koncak disappointment tbh

Well maybe not, but his reputation has definitely taken a beating in these play-offs and finals so far

Granted he is very young and got a lot of time on his hands but he just doesn't look like he will live up to the generational talent moniker which is thrown around far too casually these days here

Chet's ball handling and 3pt range is a DETRIMENT to his game overall. He is 7'1 Power Forward Center that ABSOLUTELY cannot get physical with any of the traditionally sized PF and Cs in the league.

he tries to use his ball handling skills but only to turn it over against high intensity defense, but since he absolutely cannot play physical, he is USELESS in a high intensity and physical game. He bumps into big bodies and hope the whistle goes his way.

His fancy "good" handles for a 7 footer is a fools gold because its USELESS.

Unless Chet gets into the Giannis Year 3 Body Upgrade program.... he's just going to be a role player stretch 4 with shot block skills. Basically a Poor Man's Serge Ibaka.

he's so frustrating to watch throughout the playoffs and finals. Absolutely useless inside and useless handles against wings. He'd have to shoot like Steph Curry from 3pt to actually be useful.

Absolutely he's so inept against physical players.

People clamour about his ball handling skills and wing like skill set for a 7'2 player. But he cant use it when intensity is up. He cant body-up smaller players because he's the same weight.... so put a wing player on him and his ball handling is now useless and he's so turn over prone when he spins into traffic. Get him low post but then watch him bounce and get pushed out of position by EVERY big man who is over 220 pounds.

He costed Thunder games in this Finals series.

Basically, put a stretch Center on him, who has 30 pounds or more on him and close enough in height and you neutralize him easily. Then if he plays PF, then put your quick 6'7 defender on him and he can't dribble spin because he's slow against those players.

He NEEDS to get muscular and strong to actually reach his potential. He is just SUPER frustrating to watch right now.

he's riding okc and maybe that's all they need in this circumstance. but he's utterly pathetic when he puts the ball on the floor...what is seriously up with that. he doesn't muscle up for anything. he picks up his boards off the floor!. they're all like,,,"one bounce rebounds"

i liked him coming in because i didn't think weight was going to be an issue, but damn,,, he's a stick. when walton came in they told him to stop eating sunflower seeds and eat meat. chet IS STILL way too wimpy

he's dainty

ps,,,i knew it. he's a vegetarian ,,,,,and prolly not complementing his amino acids correctly

Complete disaster on offense in the Finals. Him being this bad is probably the biggest reason the series has gone 7.

I don’t see how Oklahoma gets away with only giving up only Chet, they would also have give up Jdub.

Pretty sure if Chet could put on more weight, he would. He just can’t.

It’s also a health risk for a guy that’s already fragile. He has long, thin bones. Just look at him. Front to back, he’s the same width as a guy 18 inches shorter. He probably just can’t carry any real additional weight.

And yeah, that spin move stuff needs to stop. It was cool against Steph Curry 1-on-1 when he was 17. With nine other guys on the floor, it’s a turnover more often than it’s a bucket.

Excellent help defender and rim protector. Solid shooter. High effort guy. But that body type is going to hold him back some in terms of health, rebounding, and exploiting certain matchups. It’s up to Chet and OKC to fit him in a role he’ll excel in long term and keep him healthy. Not a guy I’d be very comfortable giving a second contract max to, but it’ll probably happen. JDub is a much safer use of cap.

Paolo:

Paolo is still going to a decent or even great player, but Chet looks "generational", especially if he manages to fill up his frame. Magic done goofed.

you don't want chet on orlando
and okc doesn't need paolo on their's

Paolo hasn't proven that he is better than Chet even as a #1 guy. He scores at below average efficiency, can't shoot, can't run an offense, and a pretty bad defender by most defensive metrics.

The idea is that with his size and length, he would be able to shoot over 6'7 guys like KD. The problem is his shot mechanics is very awkward. Very low release point and very slow

I don’t see how Oklahoma gets away with only giving up only Chet, they would also have give up Jdub.

if the bucks were to trade giannis they're in full rebuild mode which means draft picks

Typically draft picks, young guys, and cap space. There is no way you give up an MVP for just Chet and draft picks.

Weird bump. Paolo hasn’t been out of the first round what does a Chet game in the finals have to do with a comp to a guy who hasn’t been close to it?

It is a weird bump.

But Chet is far from being a main guy, so how far Paolo went vs. Chet is completely meaningless. Paolo is a #1 guy. Chet is a #3.

Paolo hasn't proven that he is better than Chet even as a #1 guy. He scores at below average efficiency, can't shoot, can't run an offense, and a pretty bad defender by most defensive metrics.

The original claim was not regarding Paolo’s efficiency or defense. The poster is stating that Chet was better than Paolo because Paolo wasn’t in the finals and Chet is which is basically pointless considering the fact Chet is in the finals only because he plays on a better team with an MVP, lol.

Honestly, both players went to the right team. Chet would be a terrible fit in Orlando, from as you can see from the playoffs, he is not a go to guy as of yet and doesn’t really create for others which Paolo does.

That was not at all the claim, that isn’t said or implied anywhere.

The claim was simply that Chet’s finals performance, good or bad, doesn’t really say much in this comparison when Paolo doesn’t have any meaningful playoff experience to compare.

I’ve made the other claims already on an actual comparison. Chet is a DPOY level defender and folks are often prisoners of the moment around here.
