Kevin Durant to the Houston Rockets

Post#1 » by NYG » Fri Jun 20, 2025 3:53 am

Brooklyn Nets get:
Fred VanVleet

Houston Rockets get:
Kevin Durant

New Orleans Pelicans get:
Cam Whitmore
Jock Landale
10th Overall Draft Pick

Phoenix Suns get:
Nic Claxton
Herb Jones

Nets: They get a veteran guard that could really help their overall development in exchange for their center who seems more easy to replace in free agency this off-season (Myles, Naz, Capela, Lopez).

Rockets: They get their go-to scorer without breaking the bank. FVV, Cam, Landale and 10 is very reasonable for KD even at his age.

Pelicans: They pivot to a rebuild with a new regime that has a longer leash to do so. The team as currently constructed has a limited ceiling so they go for the prospect and a top 10 pick to join their top 5 pick.

Suns: They get way better defensively and add two solid veterans that would help maintain a decent roster around Booker.

Don't think Hou will go into season without vet PG.

And honestly I'd just trade for Herb if I could.

Like being able to score in the fourth isn’t an important part of playoff basketball

Having FVV was very essential to the Rockets last season. Adding KD doesn't change that (the Suns showed that having KD doesn't mean that having a PG becomes optional).

It really has to be Green or perhaps Brooks going out in place of FVV. Then some additional pick value for the Nets to get them to make the Green/Claxton swap.

That’s the value I’d give for a Durant trade:
FVV, Landale, Whitmore, 10

Unfortunately, I doubt the Rockets would trade FVV right now.

Like I’ve been saying, there is no Durant trade that makes sense for the Rockets.

Green, 10 and salary filler is where I'm at.

If you twist my arm, I could be convinced to include Whitmore but I honestly wouldn't want to.

Suns can take it or leave it. I'm not too invested in the KD sweepstakes. I've always said I would take KD if we can get him for pennies on the dollar, but I'm not about to satisfy the Suns demands and meet their ideal asking price.

I'm thinking Jalen Green would be the main salary being sent out in any Kevin Durant trade, along with one of Jabari Smith or Reed Shepperd and 10th pick. In this trade, the Rockets would still have a point guard and I wonder if the Nets would actually prefer Reed Shepperd or Jabari Smith over Cam Whitmore.

That’s too much for old Durant.
This is why nothing has happened.
The Suns want too much.

Feel free to offer a Jalen and Jabari package to CLE for Mitchell. That will get you your 4th quarter scoring, and a lot younger than Durant.
