SAC/DAL yes its PJ for Monk but with more

Post#1 » by Texas Chuck » Fri Jun 20, 2025 4:05 pm

Derozan
Monk
#42

for

Washington
Thompson
Martin
Powell
30 PHI 2nd

Kings get two forwards their fans here have been interested in plus a veteran shooter. Powell is just here to make the deal legal for Dallas. Can be moved on, bought out, or he's at least a great locker room guy. Look to free agency for a vet PG to pair with Carter. With taking on 4 for 2 they push this year's 2nd back for the 2030 PHI 2nd.

Mavs get their PG stopgap/6th man while also adding another source of offense while waiting on Kyrie. Trades a future 2nd for #42 now to find a cheap roster guy.

This one is a yes for me. I actually would be interested to see Klay working off of Sabonis. I think he would fit the role we wanted Huerter to play coming off the dho. The only question is would he be okay coming off the bench in Sac?

And then of course Washington/Martin are much needed forward depth for Sac.

MLE PG/Carter
LaVine/Keon
Keegan/Klay
Washington/Martin
Sabonis/JV

Cs want in, lol.

BOS in: PJ, Powell
BOS out: Jrue

SAC in: Jrue, Klay, Martin, 30 PHI 2nd
SAC out: DDR, Monk, 42

DAL in: Monk, DDR, 42
DAL out: PL, Klay, Martin, Powell, 30 PHI 2nd

Could even do a 32 for 42 switch in there.

i've seen many threads of PJ being worth a 1st of varying degree of value
I've seen zero threads of other teams fans offering a 1st for Jrue

Ya I'd pass on this portion for sure. swap PJ for Klay and I think it has some legs.

Boston still saves 12 million in 1 go, and can probably route Powell to a 4th team for an extra 4 million in savings.
Kings find their PG and don't have to worry about Klay coming off the bench.
Dallas deal remains unchanged.

There was a SAC insider saying they called about Jrue and there were picks involved, but they said BOS told them they had better offers.
I'll see if I can find the link, but will be a bit later. And, even if I do, I know it's just 1 insider, but the prevailing winds from BOS side is that they are looking for a pick back. Whether they get it or not is of course tbd.

Think this is a deal both sides should do.

Sacramento would have a lot of options to find their PG (Jonas, Klay, TPE, MLE…)

Dallas’ offense becomes passable without Kyrie and good with him. Maybe you can even trade Demar at the deadline if Kyrie is back..

Could make a Jonas+Klay for Jrue leg, probably need a third team but seems interesting.

I'd be surprised if Jrue has more trade value than Washington. But luckily for this proposal we don't have to debate it. If the Kings want to pull Boston in for Jrue, I'll leave those negotiations to them.

Is this it? That sounds a lot more like lukewarm interest without picks at best.

I like PJ more than most, but as an expiring, I am not sure he wont net a 1st rounder in a trade. If Jrue starts the season showing he is healthy and can still provide decent play, I can see a team paying a protected first and expiring for him

That being said, OP seems fine for both teams honestly

Swap martin for marshall and I am listening. I don't like the idea of adding Klay at all so if we did something like this he needs to go to a third party for a point guard to the kings.

I think swapping Monk for PJ makes SAC a little less SG heavy and thus not sure they should take on the extra future money here for DeRozen with Klay/Martin.

And not to hijack from the thread idea, but I think adding a scoring guard like Monk makes the Jrue ideas much better for them. I love that eventual 3 guard rotation of Kyrie/Jrue/Monk with the defense Jrue brings too.

I think both sides are better served just leaving it as Monk for PJ and then I think DAL should go for Jrue with those pieces instead of DeRozen.

Is Demar agreeing to come off the bench, or to a fair buyout? If not, this isn't great for the Mavs.
