My trade so good the board is shook. Win/Win scenario keep KD or massive amount of cap space + all our future picks.

At this point I'm not feeling the #4 pick if we aren't seriously considering Ace.
Get KD for cheap. The #4 pick is more than what other teams are currently offering for KD.
Bridges/Green/Grant/#4 for KD
At worst we cut a ton of salary KD opts out and we have cap space for another big FA signing after the season.
Tell me how we lose in this scenario?
in every conceivable fashion?
I just don't understand how trading #4 for a 37 year old on an expiring contract could even possibly be construed as a good idea.
That is way too expensive just to get salary relief.

KD wouldn't even report to this team
i don't know if theres ever been a player who has been so openly and directly against mentoring/leading rebuild projects than him
he'd literally just stay home until we routed him somewhere else

Just insane. Absolutely, certifiably insane.
I watched a decent sample of Duke games this season and I think everyone acting like Kon is the second coming of Larry Bird are certifiably insane.

Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
Holding picks No. 6 and 18 in the first round, the Wizards have explored trade-up scenarios in hopes of securing one of the top backcourt prospects, league sources told RG. Washington has made multiple offers to teams in the top five in an effort to land either Dylan Harper or Jeremiah Fears, even being willing to part with surprising names to move up to No. 2 overall. Thus far, those attempts have been rebuffed.

"Surprising names"? Don't say kispert or Poole.
Surprising is sarr or Bilal maybe bud

I still can't wrap my head around why this front office would want to get rid of Mark, but if they do trade him and draft Malauch that might be the last straw for me as a fan.

Piece on Cedric Coward..
Really like this kid as a previously unheralded prospect who has shown immense upside and killed it at the combine. Similar frame, measurables to Jalen Williams and he's got a great backstory

He’s one of those guys who some team will take a swing at earlier than many others. Hard to predict where, but wouldn’t surprise me to go in the late lottery. One mock has Chicago taking him 12th. Every team wants their own Jalen Williams!
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

I’ve also struggled to figure it out, but somebody pointed out how his progression hasn’t resulted in a return to shot blocking, good defense, or dependable shot making. So either they don’t think he will get any better, or they do think he’s brittle, or maybe Mark and his camp have quietly said “trade me” cause he’s not wanted. I’m willing to give it this upcoming season and see, unless we get a good offer. Selling at 10 cents on the dollar isn’t as good as just letting him go if things don’t work out. Including him in some type of draft deal may work best.
I continue to wait...and hope...for the return to Hornet's glory.

Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
I'm at the point where I just want to draft Tre Johnson and be done. No trade backs unless it's an amazing offer, no swings at #4, no major concerns about fit or hurting feelings of current players.
Let's not make the same mistake two years in a row. Tre Johnson is the best combination of player/prospect at #4 imo (and I really like what Kon brings and think Ace is talented). I see the best comp for Tre as a bigger prime CJ McCollum and that's pretty good value for #4.
Peterson/Lee probably thinks the defense will be ghastly with a LaMelo and Tre backcourt. They're right. But are we a developing team? Melo is what it is, but Tre can be developed.

Buzzin did it again!
Let's get 37-year-old kd or 35 Paul George gut our roster to do so, and have nobody to put around them is the complete opposite of anything in the realm of progress

70mil in cap space to start fresh if KD leaves in FA?
Say KD loves it here and we advance in the playoffs. Then we got a team that's contending moving forward.
We must take a risk at some point. I'm tired of being irrelevant Charlotte. Y'all want to keep LaMelo right?
Well get him some real help.
Sorry guys Buzzin wants to compete if we keeping LaMelo.

to be fair I wasn't on the Tre bandwagon or anything, but at this point we should do it. VJ will not be there. ace is a lot of drama, kon doesn't have the upside. Tre has a path to be an all star down the road and fits immediately, so yes we should do that at this point.

Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
LaMelo/Miller playing off KD ain't no telling what this team could do in a weak East next season.
You talking about 3 legit all-star caliber players and unlike PHX they fit as a trio.
Shame on me for wanting to actually compete for the playoffs. We might be having WWIII we need to go for it right now.

who is going to come here? tell me! we are the Pittsburgh Pirates of basketball.
also no I don't want to keep lamelo. not at all. sell him to the highest bider and while we do that trade miles and mark for as much as possible. make over this entire damn roster. the rotation of a million g league guards and players that don't fit and taking other peoples junk was horrible last year. this entire franchise is a damn joke. from leadership to players. our best piece is brandon miller every thing else is trash except maybe tre mann.

It sounds like you have no hope for this franchise. Why even cheer for the team?
What is your actual plan keep losing adding rookies to our losing core every season?

Re: 2025 General Draft Discussion 2
If we don't hit on these draft picks we are going to be in the same situation every year.
Adding a unknown rookie to a losing core.
In order to break the cycle you must try something different. Since when is trading for a top 10 player controversial?
You say we can't get star FA's then take a gamble and trade for one!

Name the quality fa that will come. name 1. humor me. Why cheer for the team because it's the closest thing I have to a hometown team, and I grew up on 90s NBA Jam Hornets awesomeness and would love to have that back. I'll tell you one thing, a lot of what we are dealing with could have been avoided if hit on draft picks. Like last year, we 100% should have drafted Clingan and never looked back. What do we do, though? Draft a player more raw than slaughtered deer baby meat. We wouldn't be having Mark conversations right now if we had clingan. We'd be looking at him going into his season as the future and be focused on moving off mark. I actually like your Houston trade ideas with Lamelo, so yeah, we should do that. The last thing we should do is draft Maluach, Ace, or Kon. We should go with Tre and slide him next to Miller so we get some offense. The only way we can build is through the draft. Look at the last quality free agents that came here. Batum and Hayward. How did that work out? We always have to settle for tier 3 guys. I just want to have nice things for once. We all should want nice things.

Can we move the Kevin Durant discussion to the fake trade thread, offseason or the general NBA thread.
