Don't even think Spurs offered pick 14.
Obviously you take the Raptors offer even without Poetl being included ( because they're sending out the 9yh pick in the trade and haven't been pleased with the remaining available centers in the draft at 39) and also, they have a connection with Poetl as they first scouted, drafted and developed him. And then traded for him to bring him back to Toronto.
Ultimately, who really cares if he's not included? The 9th pick and Barrett/ filler should be able to try you Claxton and the 19th, 26th, 36th and a future first from Brooklyn.
The heck with those Texas teams or really any of those teams giving lowball offers. The Toronto offer blows them.out if the water in comparison to what they're offering. But even if the suns don't decide to do the Toronto trade, YES, the Suns can decide to keep KD and then just look to move him again at the deadline.
But worst case scenario, even just holding onto him and letting him expire would give us 54+ million in cap space to use in 26' free agency and we could pursue quality options from there.
Ultimately were not going to be competing next season, and it's not going to dramatically change our trajectory accepting a craptastic offer just to move KD anyways.
Does the Raptors offer actually exist though, absent KD agreeing to play ball, or is it just a bad bluff by the Suns.
Well, multiple nba pundits ( not directly associated with the Suns) have mentioned it and the package details have remained consistent too. So that tracks with the reports I'd say.

If u guys land IQ thats a score. Down year last season only cuz of injuries and we sat him a bunch cuz we wanted to tank. But the guy got good upside and can light it up from 3. High character too. It would suck losing him

I’m guessing Tuesday at the soonest. Gives the likely champion their flowers for 48 hrs as deservedly so.
One thing to point out is 12:01 am on draft day opens up another year of tradable picks to 2032. If teams like Miami don’t want to trade current players they can add another first rd pick to the package.

Re: The Official 2025 Offseason Thread Part 3
This is actually really simple in premise! Yes! The Raptors offer / interest in KD is legit. But they don't want to give up Poetl in the KD trade and then not have a guaranteed starting center in place to compete with!
The trade becomes Quickly/ Filler/ 9th pick/ future 1st with Barrett/ 9th pick going to Brooklyn for Claxton/ 19th pick/ 26th pick/ 36th pick. And possibly a future protected 1st.
Toronto gets KD and keeps their center that Ujiri adores, Brooklyn gets a fringe all star wing in Barrett (they could probably flip to Chicago for Vucevic and Ball)?? They also get the additional top 10 lotto pick they've been coveting!
And Phoenix gets Quickly/ Claxton/ 19th pick/ 26th pick/ 36th pick/ future protected 1st (BRK)/ Future 1st (TOR). Phoenix addresses their needs for a starting guard and starting center and adds multiple draft picks for cost controlled talent and depth pieces.

Screw the Heat if they're not willing to include Ware. Their package is absolute trash without him included.Ler them struggle in mediocrity then.

Is the delay for a KD trade possibly due to waiting for the new league year and has nothing to do with all the stuff currently being reported? Wouldn't there be value in waiting to do a deal after declining Martin and Micic to get under 2nd apron? Also waiting could impact other teams Suns would trade with?
It depends on who/what is involved. Whatever happens, its likely going to be a rather complicated, 3+ team deal. In a lot of scenarios, it may not be able to be technically executed until after the July moratorium and start of the new league year.
However, there are many instances where deals are agreed to in principle and publicly leaked before the league year turns over even though it cant be executed until later. Some of the draft hat shenanigans are an easily recognizable example in many cases. Another recent example was the Mikal Bridges trade last season, which was announced prior to the draft but not actually executed until early July.
Agreed. Theres no benefit to be waiting.
Suns are still working on finding a trade they like.
They still haven't realized that the market has changed & the asset they have isn't worth what they thought it was

TBH: we aren't going to get much for KD. This is going to be bad!

His value likely drops the longer you hold him. After the draft picks also become less certain, which doesn't help.

Portzingis and Pritchard to the Suns
probably would still need another 6-8m from another team
some team would need to take Royce or Allen
Porzingis gets injured a lot so that makes sense to trade for him!
The one thing I know about the modern NBA is that if you want to compete, your backup point guard better be a white guy who can shoot the lights out. Pritchard's untouchable.
Hope we keep Gillespie

Or his offer reflects the market. I like his offer less than the Spurs or Rockets, but I can see others feeling differently.

Why? What is Gillespie going to do?
