i just don't know how we can make it work unless they're trading kat which it doesn't seem like. losing 2 or more rotation pieces seems like a bad idea.

it's hard to say. some media types were saying the knicks are gonna make personnel changed and suggested it might be kat. i do think kat is on a short leash this year. if he's still giving that same level of defense with a new coach, i don't think he'll last here.

It's not so much what other teams are offering, it's that KAT for KD is the only thing that works without trading a ton of depth. That said, it would cost KAT + Kolek or Hukporti.


Anything else and you are trading 3-4 rotational players just to get the salary right. I'm not high on KD, but they did contact the Suns about him at the deadline. There's only 1 way to get him while having a team left.

No one wants to pay assets for a 38 year old injury risk with one foot in retirement. 54mil is a lot to pay for a rental.

jacob on a expiring deal is not exactly what i would call a prime asset

i guess he is their only center so they probably need him for the big playoff push after this trade

I know but, Durant is basically too expensive to acquire for most teams. If Toronto can get him for IQ/RJ or whatever and Durant wants to go there...it kinda makes sense for Toronto. They'll make the playoffs at least.

If we wanted him it wouldn't have been KAT it would have been closer to Mikal/Hart/Robinson and with the other offers out there this would have ABSOLUTELY got it done.

Every year I make this same comment. Keep the fantasy BS trades in one thread and ACTUAL trade talks/rumors in another. I have even made threads but, they get merged/locked or overrun with the fantasy BS NBA2k trades anyway.

However the one thing you need to do is just tailor the scheme better around his defensive deficiencies AS WELL AS get a reliable defensive big to pair with him.

Mitch is a cheap injury risk. He's a valuable player. He can start or come off the bench. Just find a backup who can split time with him and roll the dice. Maybe a vet who can step in if he's injured.

His time here may be limited though. This will depend on the next HC. KAT can play the 5 and that makes Mitch the backup. Having a one trick pony in Thibs was a problem all year for most, if not all of the roster.

Mitch extension won't be until next year. When we can go over the 2nd apron if they want. Keeping him as a backup or a starter will be the question there. How his health holds up will determine a lot of this.

You just keep pushing Mikal out the door. How about you try looking at the obvious reasons he's not going anywhere instead of made up reasons to trade him?

1. He spoke out against the HC. The HC is gone.
2. They traded 5 FRPs for him.
3. All this negative talk about his performance this year is BS. Period. Thibs was a problem. See above.

We ARE going over the 2nd apron with this core. Probably not this season but, definitely next season. Where any extensions signed will kick in.

This doesn't make him untouchable if the right mystery star trade you are clamoring for pops loose. That could happen. Anywhere from now to the TDL or even AFTER we extend him. I wouldn't expect it this summer. Same goes for Mitch.

It does depend on the next HC but, it's safe to assume the FO built a core that they are looking for a HC to use properly. Thibs refused. JB/MB/OG/KAT is absolutely a championship level core. Fill in the blanks for the next HC and let's roll.

Well hopefully this kid Njaji can contribute. It sure makes me feel alittle better. Now you got Mitch, Huk and Njaji. If Mitch were hurt the whole year Id be concerned but if hes coming into the season healthy with those two behind him, and then in an emergency scenario we can just move KAT back to C......I feel good at the C spot.

You're not the only one who proposes trades. You are the only one who has dozens of pages of the same three trade ideas though. Two are for players not on the market and one is just a terrible trade.

Hart/Mitch/Deuce... Whoever else not named JB/MB/OG/KAT are the most likely trade chips. The others are players they sold the farm for. Tweaking the team around them however they can seems far more plausible than anything you've proposed 700 times. But, you never know.

It's interesting reading material but, I've been BEGGING you to change it up. Your creativity focused on the bench would be cool to see.

One thing I’ll give Leon is that he isn’t afraid to make big swings. Trading our youth, trading Randle, firing Thibs, he seems like he’ll do anything to try and make us better.

The Kessler/Jabari one is sweet actually. You have a right to disagree but it would make the team better.

The bench Ive proposed a few but of course my fave is Donte as it makes sense on so many levels.

MLEs Ive listed a bunch...Simmons, Oubre (CAA), Trent Jr, Nance. etc.

Absolutely possible. But I think they will at minimum try and get a more reliable big around KAT (since Mitch is too much an injury risk)

They can stagger them more vs teams that are too good offensively. Thibs barely did this much to our detriment with his robotic lineups.

Another thing playing KAT with a defensively elite big and limiting his responsibilities defensively would ALSO help (another thing thibs fail to do)

Kennard is a free agent ....who we probably can't afford with only ~5 million to offer...but I think even that would push us past the 2nd apron.
