Re: Dodgers Owner Buys The Lakers
I had thought this was all but impossible until only one Buss subling was left alive. What gives? Is there a loophole in the trust I'm not aware of?
EDIT: Never mind, I looked it up, apparently 4 out of the 6 siblings can vote to dissolve it.

I’d argue this is a bigger surprise than the Luka trade.

Such a stab in the back to their father, who went to so much trouble to keep it in family hands, but obviously good for the Lakers and the league. The Lakers have been hugely held back operating as a family business. You can't run a modern, multi billion dollar corporation that way.

Yeah a bit sad this day’s finally here, but it is the best possible outcome for the franchise.

Hopefully Walters would not tell Rob Pelinka to either pick THT OR Caruso in the future because he doesn't to pay more luxury taxes.

Am I the only one who’s anxiously looking forward to the official Klutch and Rob departure news?

Re: Dodgers Owner Buys The Lakers
$10 billion blows away the previous record for NBA franchise valuations.
Is this guy the main owner of the Dodgers? Because obviously he's willing to have a huge payroll.
Why would he pay that much and let Jeannie remain governor? Ask Mark Cuban how that worked out, how he was suppose to run basketball operations after he sold majority interest in the Mavs.
Maybe the new owner doesn't care about money but the tendency is for new owners, who paid big money to acquire a franchise, to start beating the drums for a new arena, so that he could jack up ticket prices.
That shouldn't be a problem for the Lakers, since the fans going to games are very rich.

Agree. It's a little sad to see it end. But it was time. It's been "time" for a while.
My only pause for cheering, is apparently Jeanie will still run the show.....so I gotta see how this pans out.

Maybe we get a trifecta and Bron decides to call it a career and move to ownership of the Vegas team.

Re: Dodgers Owner Buys The Lakers
I’m amused by the fans of the other teams trying to downplay the significance of this acquisition..
All are clearly in denial that this is the best thing to happen to the franchise given how limited the Buss family can go toe to toe with the other billionaire owners..
We love Jerry and Jeannie Buss for what they’ve done for the lakers but their run is clearly over. Time to hand over the reins.

The Buss kids carried us as long as they could. But for the organization and team to reach the higher heights, we needed an infusion of Cash Big Time. And sad to see an end of an era started by the Old Man Dr. BUSS, but it's time to move forward with Deeper Pockets ownership. Dr. Buss' legacy is secure with a worthy ownership group

Some fans are just too ignorant and myopic in their views that the Dodgers simply out-bidded other teams and bought all their current players,

Most of those guys are not aware that that their smart scouting teams also found gems other teams didn't notice.
Guys like Muncy, Chris Taylor actually were being ignored by 29 other teams. Also found Teoscar Hernandez, Edman etc which played major roles in the last playoffs.
They also drafted and developed guys like Pages and Will Smith etc.
Dodgers are the only team right now that use 2 Planes for their road trips to enhance rest and recover and improve performance.
