It’s sad that people are talking themselves into Mike **** Brown.

I was excited to fire Thibs because I thought we might actually hire a modern coach. Even possibly find our own diamond in the rough Coach from the assistant market.

Instead we’re looking to hire a guy who coached 4 teams in 11 years because he has a close relationship with an executive.

Do we ever make any moves strictly based on talent or fit or do we just acquire everyone based on relationships? This ‘relationships’ thing has become a detriment to the team. Hire and acquire people that can help you win a title, not because they’re your friend or family.

The guy had an interview. Relax.

My uninvited 2 cents, I liked the idea of sacking Thibs, the offense became to predictable for Pacers to defend.

I say don't worry about a big name replacement, find the next great coach like Cavs did Atkinson.

It didnt feel like our offense was the problem in that series. We couldnt get stops when we needed em. And I dont know if any coach is going to fix that issue.

Doesn't mean that a new coach cant utilize the bench better and implement a more diverse offense and keep kat outta drop coverage. But we have 2 big liabilities on defense and thats going to be hard for any coach to mask.

They want someone who they think can get them a championship and minus any available championship coaches (except Malone and Bud who the FO don’t want) I think they want to get someone who could maybe take that next step. That’s why I think Brown is who they hire. It’s far from ideal as a fan because he’s seen as a placeholder coach but low-key he’s actually a better coach than his reputation makes him seem.

Once again Brown is from the Pop, Carlisle, Kerr tree, 2X coach of the year, has coached a team to the finals before and I has shown the ability to coach both offense and defense. He’s not a big development coach, but they can work around that. Jenkins has a better reputation as a development coach but hasn’t shown any success in the playoffs.

I can't settle on who I want. Neither jump out as a slam dunk. I would take Kidd over either.

You can say with this group we won't need as much a disciplanarian coach. We have a bunch of professional self motivated players. We will need agood Xs and Os guy who will maximize our players strengths and minimize their weaknesses.

All I can think of is Divo was an all or nothing improvement to the offense but was terrible defensively and Ihart helped us on the offensive glass a lot.

But still no excuse to drop from #2 to #7 with all the added offensive talent.

It was all the offensive rebounding, which I don’t know how sustainable it was. Our offense definitely has room for improvement, and that would make our defense better just by making it less likely to allow fast breaks.

That's why I think Bryant wasn't hired when he was available. Knicks are pretty much stuck with their current lineup, they need a coach that can't get the most out of them offensively and defensively.
