Warning track defence tonight has been abhorrent.

The Jays performance today, of all days, feels homophobic

Run differential well in the negatives again. Fraudulent.

What a pickup Andres Giminez has been, eh?? BA below the Mendoza line, 4 HR, 14 RBI, worst OPS of his entire career. Brilliant!

Only a matter of time before this pitching staff held together by duct tape blows up in their face.

Why didn't we build up Max's return to be yesterday?
If the White Sox are this "Double-A level" team, then by disguise his return as a rehab start?
Why waste a rehab start at Triple-A vs Triple-A opponents, when you could have him "rehab" at the MLB level vs a "Double-A" level opponent.

Not my money, but I assume the team has some sort of general budget.
Don’t forget that they decided that Yarbrough’s 2M was too much for them before the season, which led to an entire season of outings like this every week.
Fire them.
The Yarborough decision is mind boggling, gets weirded with each new SP
I haven’t heard one coherent explanation from anyone in the media or anyone following the team
Absurd - something like that could be the difference between 1-2 games this season, crucial in a inevitably tight WC race

I think one idea would’ve been that if his thumb gets sore after 1-2 innings, you’re not wasting a full bullpen
They probably didn’t think Turnbull would be this bad

$70M+ owed between 27-29 when you factor in the buyout
His contract *could* play a part in deciding whether or not to re-sign Bo

If Barger is seriously hurt, it's safe to say we're back in seller mode.

They weren't gonna re-sign Bo in any case.

We don’t know that. They need offense, if not Bo then you have to get someone else
Without Giminez decent chance you sign Bo and move him to 2B once Nimala is ready

It's pretty clear they traded for Gimenez (a player capable of playing a good SS) partly for insurance in the very likely event they did not sign Bo.
In any case, this organization is out here handing 15 year/$500M contracts to DHs. Gimenez's contract isn't any kind of impediment to anything.

Team really needed this outing from Berrios after the Gausman and Turnbull starts -- at 65 pitches midway in the 6th, he might be able to get them through 8.

Up 4 runs, not Vladdy's play to throw home there.
You take the out if its going to be close. Bad decision making.
EDIT - Well the DP leaves us at the same place in the end, 4-1.

Easy out if he makes the throw. Mistake was one of execution, don’t have a problem with the idea of it.

Cleveland beat writer said about a month ago that the Guardians front office never expected any MLB team would pick up the entire contract Gimenez was owed for 5 years (almost 100 million). However, they found the Suckers in the Blue Jays to absorb that contract. Cleveland thought they might have to eat a portion of the deal in the back end to trade Gimenez, since Gimenez will be earning a lot more in those later years (about 73 million guaranteed over final three seasons, including the $2.5 million buyout if the Club Option for 2030 is declined).
Gimenez has been truly awful (ignoring his very good first week though) offensively. You just got to hope Gimenez can turn back the clock and become 2022 Gimenez, when he was really good offensively. If he keeps being terrible at the plate, you have no choice but to bench him and use him strictly as a Late Inning Defensive Replacement player. It is about production and winning games, and if he cannot turn it around with the bat in the coming weeks, he can just have a seat on the bench 2 or 3 times a week.

Gimenez’s xwOBA is 7th on the team right now, above Ernie Clement. He’s been incredibly unlucky on batter balls this year (particularly of late) but I don’t see anything to worry about yet.
