Listen, if you want a 2 - year extension and want out of here you need to have your team of choice up their offers.
Otherwise, you are going nowhere, and you can take the risk of injury which is always in the equation with you. Next year could be you last year in the NBA. Basically, we need to stop being Mr Nice Guy with KD. That is what is apparently happening. He doesn't want to have a lot of good assets removed from his new team and he in fact is creating his own NTC without it being in writing. He was fine to come to Phoenix while we gave away our present and future. Return the favor.
I don't know how things work in the "Land of Hanna Lee", but he would be stupid to sign an extension, lose all leverage, and wind up in another situation like this. He came to the Suns knowing they would be better with him instead of Mikal and Cam. He's always sought out a good point guard which helps most bigs. I doubt he expected that subsequent to his signing the team would have no point guards, particularly CP3, another center, or any decent big, or a foundation, worth a crap.
The team has the ultimate right to trade him anywhere. But he has the right to "not go gentle into that good night". I'm sure every team knows he will attempt to play the same as ever, even if he does not now want to go there. But many, if probably not all, will respect his age and years of greatness, as did GSW last year. In a worst case scenario, he will still have his $55 mil until age 39. I doubt he will ever want to be mediocre, and he really doesn't have to worry about money after that. If he remains anywhere as good as this year a contending team might even choose to keep him at that salary.
I personally believe that every trade proposal I've seen will make us worse (particularly when we are considering trading our few other good players). But Ishbia ultimately is paying the bills, and has every right to do what he thinks best.
