That Miami trade offer of "Andrew Wiggins, Nikola Jović and/or Jaime Jaquez, No. 20 overall pick, plus a future 1st" for KD is pretty underwhelming. We should not be offering the 9th pick at all, if that's even true. Maybe it was the Suns that were asking or spreading fake news to get Miami to up their offer.

If all the BS rumours are to be believed, maybe.
But in reality Masai hasn’t spoken to the Suns about Durant since February. At least hopefully not.

For those of you who think Masai is cooked for attempting to trade for a washed KD....
Masai is not Bryan Colangelo, Masi is not Rob Babcock......He is the man who turned Demar DeRozan, Jonas Valenciunis, delon wright, Kelly O, Rob Dilingham, Bruce Brown and a couple late first rounders into Kawhi Leonard, Marc Gasol, and Brandon Ingram.
You can be sure he did his homework on KDs health.

If we deal IQ, Poeltl, and 9th for Durant that would be a bad deal. It seems that's not what we want.
Hypothetically if we did that deal we'd have:
Mogbo / 39th / Chomche
Durant / Agbaji
Ingram / Walter
Barnes / Dick
Barrett / Shead
I don't think we can compete with that line up. We need Poeltl or we are screwed against elite bigs. We could get away with starting Shead and a rookie back up though.

I'd hope we would want more from our PF that just being an undersized spacer. We've played that game before, and don't really have the juice elsewhere in the lineup to make that work well.
He’d be a bench guy though. Maybe a spot starter if there is an injury. Williams salary is flat at $18m
2027-28 MLE: $17m
2027-2029 MLE: $18.7m
MLE for a bench 3/4 isn’t all that bad. He’s hits 3’s and won’t get attack defensively. PWill is not all that good but he’s not really making starter money.
Right, but we're losing RJ for a guy who might be useful to us as a spacer. I'm not really seeing the value to the team beyond the financial incentive.
"might be" is a weird way of downplaying "40% career 3 point shooter".
Besides - I feel like getting the 12th overall pick here is completely being overlooked. Realistically we are unable to pay IQ/RJ/Ingram/Barnes/Poeltl. Why not cash one of them in for a lottery pick? What better offer are we ever going to get?
PWill is not the prize of the deal, and even then, he is a guy you can definitely see having a change of scenery boost.
#12 would have the highest upside of the entire deal, and PWill in theory is a better fit in the SL than RJ is anyways. You can start IQ/PWill/Ingram/Barnes/Poeltl. PWill and Barnes are also both FSU alum - so maybe there is something there.

Value wise I don’t think it is a bad deal. It’s just we don’t have depth at C being the issue. The addition of KD at a position where we have a lot of depth and giving up Jakob at a position where we have no depth is the main issue.

Miami’s offer isn’t that bad to be honest.
Wiggins and RJ are a wash
IQ versus Jovic and Jaime could argue the later is better value cause of the rookie contracts.
9th is worth a bit more than 20th and a future.
However, Phoenix wants win now players so RJ and IQ probably contribute more.
If the Raps can move RJ for a C for Phoenix I think it is a done deal.
Ayton, Timelord, Mark Williams, Capela are probably some guys that can be obtained with someone like RJ.

I think KD goes to Miami. They're probably just a piece away which is another future 1st round draft pick.
Highly doubt he gets traded to Toronto given that it would probably have to be a 3-way deal since Jak isn't involved.

It is always fun to connect dots on rumours
We know Miami wants KD
We know Sacramento are making changes
We know Sacramento has been linked to IQ
We know Raptors were supposed to take on SLO-mo from Miami at trade deadline and it fell apart
We know PHX has been linked to Raptors and RJ
We know Miami and Sacramento have had “convos”
Whatever happens with KD, I think it will be a big deal…literally and figuratively

#12 is the prize. Our front office’s strength is drafting. I’d like to see what they can do with another lotto pick (something we haven’t had a lot of during their tenure).
Barrett has 2 years left and is going to want a pay day. We also have 3 sg’s waiting in the wings. He’s the most expendable high salary player on the team.
I’m going to say that Barnes and PWill both going to FSU isn’t going to turn on a light bulb for Williams. He is who he is about as much as any player I’ve ever seen. He’s good for 9/4/2 literally every year. I would not bring him in with the idea of starting him. Maybe actually having to compete for minutes could get him to play harder. Otherwise he’s a fine bench guy who’d be overpaid the next 2 years, which to me is better than potentially overpaying RJ on his next contract.

Ayton: I highly doubt PHX wants back in the Ayton business. Not sure why they’d want RJ either with their wing rotation of Simons/Sharpe/Avdija
Timelord: can’t be relied on at all.
Mark Williams: we already know what CHA wants for him and it’s more than RJ is worth
Capela: sign and trade gets very murky considering Capela is probably an MLE guy (at best) now. Not sure why ATL would want RJ anyways. Daniels and Risacher are pretty locked in as their 2/3.
I really don’t believe RJ’s trade market is very strong. The “non defensive scoring SG” isn’t really in high demand right now.
RJ is a really bad piece for a PHX trade. They are already spending $100m+ on 3 shooting guards.

idk raps have never been a good FA destination. i'd rather try to make a deal for someone like trae young and go from there.

There’s no way they’d acquire KD and call it an offseason. Other players will get traded to address roster issues. There definitely will be more win-now type of trades. The likes of Dick, Shead, Walter, picks ect would be in play for the right pieces Id presume.
