Jonathan Kuminga Likely To Stay With Warriors; Bulls Have Sign-And-Trade Interest

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sat Jun 21, 2025 9:02 pm

The Chicago Bulls have emerged as an interested team for Jonathan Kuminga. Chicago would be looking to acquire Kuminga as part of a sign-and-trade transaction, given the Bulls are well over the salary cap heading into the offseason.

Kuminga's market seems fairly dry, as only the Brooklyn Nets have enough cap space available to offer the restricted free agent. That means the most likely outcome is that Kuminga re-signs with the Warriors.

However, the Bulls do have interest in the 22-year-old forward. Kuminga's status could be tied up until after the Kevin Durant trade saga is resolved. Teams who are talking trades for Durant, could pivot to Kuminga as a backup plan if they can't land the Phoenix Suns forward.

Bulls are interested in any free agent trying to strong arm their team into an overpaid contract. Not sure if this is bulls strategy to burden other teams with bloated contracts or player agents trying to create a narrative of their player being desired…

I think they Bull's interest would be due to Kuminga's low stock at the moment. Combine that with their ability to offer him a starting role and Kuminga might be interested. He'll probably get too much, but I doubt he'll get anything close to his rumored asking price, regardless of where he ends up.
