Until he shows something special of substance, he's clearly a vet minumum guy. I would say his floor is a Euroleague career and his ceiling is a Shane Battier-type player. For his sake I hope he improves.

The Bulls should see how he does this season and then decided at the end of the year about his contract. Right now he's an end of the bench player and not worth paying too much.

To put it in perspective Javonte Green was paid $599,862 to play for the Cavs this past season.

That is the starter criteria QO, he'd need to start 41 games or play 2000 minutes to get that QO. To put it in perspective, in his career (3 seasons) he has 7 starts and 1882 minutes. Seems unlikely that he will meet that criteria, if he does not, then his QO will be 7.6M.

7.6M is right in that area of I probably wouldn't do it, but it's not so egregious that I could see them wanting to do it.

Bring him back on the vet minimum, sure. He'll provide energy and defense in the rare event he's called upon as the last guy on the roster. Anything more than that, pass. That's coming from someone who likes him.

$15M is absolutely bonkers, whether that's $15M per year or $15M total.

You do nothing with him. Simple as that. Let him earn his contract.

If he walks after becoming an UFA, so be it. He isn't a game changer and never will be. You could replace him right now with a vet min guy and get likely better production. You only have a set amount of time to prove yourself with a team and then your time is up. Maybe you get a 2nd chance with another team, maybe you don't. We don't need to give 2nd contracts to players who haven't grown or shown anything only to end up with a bad contract and regret.

Haven't we learned anything from Patrick Williams? Had we waited on Patrick Williams, we likely could have re-signed him for a tiny fraction of what he is getting now.

or $15m over his entire lifetime including non NBA jobs.

It's debatable if Dalen Terry should even be in the NBA. Im sure there are 1000+ other players outside the NBA that could provide better production than he can provide. He's turning 23 in a couple weeks and hasn't proved anything.

I think he's a decent 10th man, but (unless he's much better) we do nothing
I hope he saves his $ this year!

$90 a year for 5 years?

I don't know. Seems a little steep.

Never count out on AKME stupidity. You always need to add 15M more per year just for that.

Why would anyone want to extend Dalen Terry? Fans, I mean. Why would we want that roster spot filled by him? Are there Bulls fans who look forward to Dalen Terry checking into games?

Exactly.

See if someone will give you a 2nd or future 2nd this summer and jettison him. We need roster spots right now for the rebuild/retool. Dalen doesn't need to be taking up one of them. And I certainly wouldn't pay to extend him. He's early replaceable "talent."

Javonte got paid $1.7 million this season like any other vet minimum player of his experience, the Cavs number is prorated from late February to the end of the season.

I was and still of the mind that the Dalen Terry draft pick was a favor to someone.
His agent? F#%k if I know but that is the only way it makes sense. If he was a (late) 2nd rounder I would get it but at 18?

This guy AKME's!

Jokes aside, AKME seems to be learning on the job. There are rumors that they recognize Pat was a bad contract. Hopefully they do better in the future.

There are young players that showed a lot more than Terry that have been flat out cut from their teams.

We aren't a charity case. We are supposed to be a legit NBA franchise.

He has defensive chops and can be useful for sure. But that is vet minimum money. Anything more than that puts your franchise back.

IF this guy makes anything more then league minimum salary or a two-way contract after this rookie contract is done i'll be shocked!

He has shown flashes of being an NBA player a handful of times in his entire career....it isn't worth it at this point!
