How easy is it to ignore that sht and talk about what you want though. Thats what I dont get. Like I ignore when Chanel and whoever are posting essays or anything clyde writes. I might pop off on em every once and awhile but I never wanted to silence them cause they deserve a voice here too. Its really easy to coexist and not cry over what someone else post. After a couple back and forths between meLo and Nodope I skim it. But not once have I felt the need to silence them. Or anyone for that matter. Not to brag im just cool like that.

And bringing up randle all year shouldnt have been a problem. He was an integral part of our team and moved for a major piece so comparing them all year should have been fine. Especially when 1 fan still really fcked with him.

Honestly sht is weak as hell that were rolling out all these controlling rules. Cant talk a lil sht in a post game thread about a current player when you fck with an older player more cause some fans are too soft about it. They cant scroll past it. Weird behavior. And tbh idgaf ill do it anyways. Just like you lose your sht on thibs in gamethreads. Its what we do here.

Its just some people couldnt handle meLo havign a weird obsession with a dude we all couldnt stand and they whined all year about it and now were here. They did the same sht with Chanel and his essays. If someone has a different opinion a few load people complain. And now im complaining about people complaining and im too cool for that sht.

Its actually a lot harder than you think. Like I said...it wasn't one or two posts. It would go on for pages and pages. And obviously you don't feel that way but its very off putting to a lot of people who may have wanted to contribute but felt like and actual post about basketball would be drown out by the constant non productive banter. Like sure everyone gets a laugh out of some of the beefs but it was like groundhogs day around here. You basically new everyone comebacks word for word/bar for bar. I don't think you understand the sheer volume of some of the trolling. You mention like those long essays that is like one post every once in a while. Its a big difference. Like sham has said in the past there is a art to this. Some people have it, some people don't.

This is just the way it is man, I don't know what to tell you, it was went unchecked for so long that it became a problem whether you want to admit it or not. Your constantly pushing back on mods is odd to me. Nothing has changed for you. But you just telling people deal with it seems weird. Like why do people who actually enjoy coming to the board to talk hoops have to dance around the incessant trolling? This place is for everyone not a select few.

Now the select few get to have there back and forth in there own silo without any pushback from mods or running rampant over multiple threads. And it wasn't just Melo even though you keep singling him out.

Listen the goal here is to basically make awareness that it wasn't working. We are trying our best to fix it without completely overhauling what also makes this place good. Friendly jabbing is part of that and the goal here is to hopefully get to a place where we can pull back a little. Do you really think we want extra work, reading and handling a bunch of more reports/complaints? Of course not. The hope is during the slower offseason we get back to an understanding of what is good faith back and forths and what is derailing/trolling and making people not want to participate in the forum.

But it has changed... I go into a coaching search thread and posters have big blue text from mods writing on their post saying its derailment to talk about thibs in a new coaching search thread. Thats wack. Its overreaching and kills the vibe of the thread moreso than a minor detour about comparing the coach that was just fired and a potential new coach.

And lets be real its hivemind sht. Its gonna be cool as hell to take shots at thibs like it was randle most of the season cause the majority dont fck with them. But if a few thibist mention thibs when sht is rough a bunch of posters will whine and complain to you guys. Shts weak.

am i also overreacting cause i dont like change - sure. do i also carry a deep rooted disdain for "authority" - yes. and clearly by so many signing up to be in the neighborhood watch the board wants this. So it is what it is... I just think it is lame and will continue to bitch about it and go about my business.

basically why i stopped posting in the nba threads and stick to the nfl/mma ones. there's basically no moderation in those threads (i think) and there's really no need for it.

What ill never understand is why you guys engage it

Like if I feel someone is engaging in a bad faith arguement why waste time with it - to defend the honor of kat, make sure everyone knows randle isnt a winning player, or cause you need to be right?

Why respond if it doesn't serve you?

Maybe its because the other posters would never miss a chance to come around to serve the crow to others when the time came, so when it is finally a chance to go around and serve crow to them you wanna do it. Plus maybe its being naive but thinking 'ok theres no way they can defend Randle this time, he objectively had a HORRIBLE game maybe they'll just admit it and take this L on the chin and we can open a good dialogue here' but obviously it never worked out that way, but I just kept hoping one day it would.

I once dated this dime piece in college. Way outta my league, tall beautiful, the package. We hated each other never got a long but had great "fun" and I thought I was in love. She cheated on me constantly. And I would take her back repeatedly. The "heart" wants what the "heart" wants. Well eventually after the hundredth time ahe cheated on me I realized she wasn't the problem I was for taking her back.

Lesson was eventually I had to realize I was responsible for putting myself in situations with people who aren't going to change.

I love this analogy for meLo. Might be some of my greatest work.

what we have to do in protest then is refuse to post in any other thread. make this every game thread and post all news on every topic here and only here. vive la revolution

I enjoy some level of trolling/baiting/etc but as I said I just felt like it went too far and became less light hearted fun and more actual personal attacks and making stuff up about posters, etc. and felt like we couldn't actually talk basketball in good faith anymore a lot of the time is all.

I think a nice balance would be nice, not too extreme in either direction like it used to be for years.

Why complain about rules? The board was a shyt show for a while. It devolved into personal beefs and lies and personal attacks everywhere you went. Blaming people for pushing back against that is silly when the ones who were causing the chaos weren't getting banned. It was the people that were sick of it that pushed back and got banned. Like myself. Multiple times.

Team villain was running roughshod over the board. It was every thread. You couldn't say anything positive about players without someone calling you some sort of name or flat out lying about posters. Pedophile insults. All sorts of nasty BS. I've had my dead mother insulted in here FFS. It was trolling and baiting page after page.

We all know who was responsible for this. The antagonist would win the trolling war when someone responded in kind but, they would get banned for going to far.

I'm guilty of engaging with the BS but, don't act like it was all in fun or that people should just keep it moving when the trolls were the problem. No one is going to sit idly by while they are being insulted or lied about every other post by agenda driven trolls who ADMIT they like the chaos. They openly and insistently enjoyed it. Yet it was always others who got banned.

This is the bitch thread. Bitch about whatever you want in here. Leave the rest of the board alone. It's that simple.

These rules are in place to ensure we can have actual basketball discussion and not have to sift through page upon page of childish BS to find the actual topic being discussed.

Why are you trying to act like it was ok? It wasn't. It sucked and many posters left because they either got banned or were just sick of the BS.

Team villain can fuq off and stay in here. The rest of us want to try and enjoy the site without being harassed, insulted and, trolled all day every day. It's much better now. Thanks to the mods for finally recognizing the cause and not just dealing with the reactions to the trolling. They were missing the point and letting it go too far. Now they corrected course. Bravo!

Perhaps you should keep it moving and let others use the board for its designed purpose. The only reason you're defending it is because you were never a target. You're a part of it often enough. You like the chaos. You can have it. Just keep it in here and there won't be any problems.

Only I know my limit and should be in control of that. I shouldn't expect you or the mods to limit that for me. I walk away when it doesn't serve me. I dont get why others struggle with this here.

And to add to it. What are we really doing here. Sports is an escape and hobby from life. Sht is hard so if mp comes in here cause he is locked in his basement. And is further pissed off cause thibs rotations or defensive scheme isnt up to his standards then proceeds to curse him out in a post game thread he should have that freedom. Truly believe we need that outlet. And thats why these new rules kinda piss me off. Its oppressive.

and some of these debates look ridiculous over time. i was a villain here at one time for thinking phil sucked. does anyone in the world disagree with that now ? does anyone still want to tell us about how frank is gonna break out ? we were trolling back then too supposedly.

if i keep telling you the plane is gonna crash and y'all are like "stop trolling us, the plane is fine a$$hole " and then eventually the plane crashes, what you're supposed to do is look back and say "that guy, he was telling us the plane was gonna crash and it did, i guess we were a little harsh". but instead you say to yourself "i know the plane crashed and all but that guy is still a dick"

i didn't read past this cause i wanted to jump in and say, that question should answer itself  you can't legislate human behavior besides punishing it. and only certain infractions in society are actually worthy of punishment (violence, theft, etc). on an internet forum about the knicks, where the stakes couldn't be lower, it feels odd to call for "more policing"

if this was what you really wanted you wouldn't be in this thread talking to us right now

You admit liking the chaos. Your opinion is not really going to be taken seriously on this matter. You're literally arguing that people should accept being insulted and keep it moving? Seriously? No. People should stop the BS and allow the board to function as it should.

Stay on topic. Keep it light-hearted. Save the BS for in here. Everyone wins. Including team dildo...i mean team villain.
