I'm just glad the Wolves didn't give up any of the packages they were rumored to be offering for Durant. KD shooting down Minnesota as a destination probably saved Tim Connelly from significantly overpaying for an aging star who wants a massive extension.

I don’t think Tim would have overpaid and personally I believe his unwillingness to give KD an extension is why “KD didn’t want to go to MN.”

Whitmore and Reed - 18 minutes each.
Adams 12 but more in playoffs.
Looks like a good rotation. Have Holiday (maybe Tate, Old Green) for junk minutes.
Probably want a backup center to limit Adams minutes if cutting Landale.
A lot of teams should be lining up for Jock Landale. Excellent backup big, marginal, ok starter.... too good to be a 3rd stringer.
Uhh, he kind of sucked last year.
Yes, and it makes sense why he sucked when you listen to him talk about his day to day while being 3rd string. The Rockets bench were playing hard nosed bust yo ass practice games in addition to workouts on game days.
I didn't say teams would be lining up to pick him up, I said they should be.

Possibly true, I'm grateful we didn't have to find out.

So if my Math is right PHX is still deep in the 2nd apron and a repeater tax team…and this trade makes it so for 2026/27 as well. Is there a follow up coming or might this trade be extended to send Brooks or Green to a third team?

Correct me if I am wrong, but this deal can’t be completed until after the July moratorium since Jalen Green’s $33m extension does not start until next season. So Houston will be making the #10 pick on behalf of Phoenix and there will be plenty of time to expand the trade

1 asset lighter than I would have guessed. Good on Houston for keeping all their young guys but I still think there's some underrating of what Green brought.
kind of ironic but as a nets fan, after dealing kyrie before they dealt KD I was hoping they could get FVV from Toronto at the time. They had claxton and they had DFS plus Cam Thomas and picks to trade, not quite Sengun/Amen, but a kind of similar construction with FVV/KD as the 2 primary engines. Siakam was on the trade market so had they gone all and traded all their futures perhaps they could have gotten both FVV/Siakam.
Nets obviously ultimately passed on that and traded KD, but will be interesting to see how this construction does.
Also think some kind of deal between Phoenix and Brooklyn makes a lot more sense now. Bad contracts + #10 for #19 and #26? Maybe Claxton or CamJ to Phoenix since they seem to be trying to compete with Booker? Nets still own a PHO28 swap they would prefer cancelled. Lots of interesting combinations and I think 10th pick is highest of any of the teams looking to clear the 2nd apron?

I would be surprised. This year draft is weak. But I wouldn’t be too surprised if they land Jalen Green given his brotherhood relations with Ja. Cole, Clarke, Konchar for Green.

I really don't hate this for Phoenix, especially if they can flip Jalen Green. I feel like the return is decent for KD's twilight years.

About what I expected and what many Rockets fan's proposed here. Players this age just don't return what some were expecting. The thing about trading for someone like Bane is if it doesn't work out you can still flip him for 75+ cents on the dollar of what you paid, if you trade for guys past their prime their flip value is just going to drastically decline. The Butler trade should have given more credence here for the likely return that Durant ended up being worth.
Memphis in play for Green? I really don't love the fit but maybe if we can make the money work after a JJJ redo.

Could be marketing spin in hopes of not coming off as desperate. I do think that is the best upside bet for them, but they are super crowded as SG and non of them can really play PG or SF effectively. Booker at PG is not using him the right way imo.

If you count Brooks as a SG, I believe the Suns are now spending $178M next year on the position (Booker, Beal, Green, Allen, and Brooks).

PHX not done trading right? They have a few loose picks and some real roster confusion.
Booker/Green/Beal/Brooks/Richards
?

I kinda like it for both sides. Brooks is a loss for HOU, but they got KD. Their D/attitude can survive losing Brooks, but they desparately needed scoring. And, they got it.
For PHO, #10 is a pretty big asset. Brooks will help. Obviously the fit with Green is weird, but that can be sorted. Get some value for Grayson in a future move, etc.

PHX not able to squeeze one of their picks (sorry Chuck) is a coup for Houston.
Also the rivalry with OKC just got a lot more firepower.
And they offload an overpaid Green + wanna-be bad-boy Brooks. A coup for Houston.

Jalen Green + 10th pick for Nic Claxton + 19th pick +36th pick?
The Nets get multiples picks in the mid lottery range and take a chance on Jalen Green.
The Suns get a starting level Center, cutting even more salary by moving Jalen Green and have multiple picks in the 19-40 range.
Does this make sense if Cam Thomas is willing to re-sign for significantly less than Green?
I was thinking Denver (MPJ) or Portland (Simons and Williams) would make some sense.

Green for Poole?
Phoenix gets the shorter contract, Washington tries the younger player to break out or to put up enough stats to pump and dump.
