Also probably didn't help we were seeing guys like obi and Ben Sheppard and Tony Bradley/Thomas Bryant contributing when all those guys are big time bench pieces but they are contributing to a team one win from a championship.

For example we started off the gang buster offensively nearly outpacing some of the most historic offenses. Then like Jan came around and teams made that one adjustment to put a wing on KAT and a big on Hart and our offense pretty much went to ****. We never tried anything different the rest of the year and it started to even be more pronounced in the playoffs.

The new coach being willing to experiment with new lineups and offensive strategy probably ultimately pushed them to this decision.

so maybe finding a replacement for jHart in the starting lineup is just as important as getting a new coach, eh

At least from reporting doesn't sound like the FO was thrilled thibs refused to adjust the starting lineup.

Not having any any deuce with the starters less Hart basically all year is pretty wild we never even attempted it.

Yes a shooter in the SL for Hart would be big

Or Mitch if he can stay healthy. That adjustment alone should have been a major focus this year. We knew we were getting Mitch back. Why weren't we trying to play KAT at the four AT ALL before then? Thibs is why. Thibs is gone.

The next HC will dictate what our lineup/rotations are. Thibs was terrible at that. Cost us a shot at a title. Cost him his job. Hopefully we don't hire another stubborn coach.

Not at all concerned about losing jHarts rebounding?

Cause outside of kat - og, mikal, Brunson aren't good rebounders.

I guess Mitch not Deuce, as Bluntson said.

Or a new PF

The same reason people want to trade Mitch, is the same reason teams won't want to pay much to get him. Upping his trade value is a must if we really want to compete after any trade involving him.

What he brings to the team is worth more than what we would get for him most likely. I think they will take that chance and maybe something makes sense down the road when the TDL approaches.

His defense and rebounding next to KAT is more valuable than Josh rebounding as a starter. The offense is basically a swap. Josh is far more valuable off the bench. He can still get boards and not bog down the offense while playing weaker defense than what Mitch provides.

It's all about health.

Kessler is a good idea. Not sure how we get him now when he has more value than when we couldn't get him last year. We don't have the picks Ainge will want. We didn't give them up when we did have them.

I am confident we can fill out the roster and have more balance/depth without any big trades. I am confident that the FO will not make any trade that doesn't make sense.

I say all that to say this:

This summer may be all about the 9mil we have to spend in FA. HOPEFULLY we have a HC by then. We may shuffle some back end players on the fringes but, I don't see them making any major trades that people lust for. We did make the ECF as currently constructed and we didn't even utilize the roster at all. We are very close. People seem to forget that. The HC search needs to find the answer as much as any trade could.

Really wish they would pick up the pace on that front. FA discussions start this week for our own players. FA discussions start on the 30th and FA begins on July 6th. I would prefer we have a HC in place and start working towards his goals before then. 2 interviews and 5 rejections in a month doesn't work for me.

So an associate coach on the Spurs pays better than an assistant coach on the Mavericks I assume.

They all know Kidd is leaving and they don't want the Dallas job? Broken Kyrie/AD can't be that promising to start your career with. Hmmm. Let's start a podcast based on this rumor!

Id rather hire Brown than Kidd for no other reason than Kidd is a terrible person and fcked us in the playoffs.

I really dont want to have to root for the art not the artist with this team. My moral compass is already compromised as is.

With Sweeney just going to the Spurs, it's not likely he'd turn around and follow Kidd to the Knicks is it?

Is getting Giannis the endgame with getting Kidd?

If so...you cant say no to getting a top 3 elite 2 way player in the NBA.

Especially if Giannis is leveraging where he is going the cost may not be as bad as one might think.

The associate head coach is the top assistant coach. Basically, the second in command to the head coach. It's a position above a regular assistant coach.

Brad Townsend
@townbrad
Unfortunately it sounds like Sean Sweeney didn’t want to leave and Mavs just didn’t do enough to keep him.
