Rockets, Suns Haven't Had Recent Kevin Durant Trade Talks

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Sun Jun 22, 2025 1:38 pm

In a recent episode of The Athletic NBA Daily, NBA insider Sam Amick said the Houston Rockets and Phoenix Suns haven't had any recent trade talks involving Kevin Durant. Amick had previously reported that Houston had made a "firm offer" for Durant. That offer is considered to be the best Rockets GM Rafael Stone will make for the veteran forward.

On Friday's episode, Amick reported that things haven't advanced at all between Houston and Phoenix.

"I was told yesterday that Houston hadn’t talked to Phoenix since last week, and that call didn’t go particularly well," Amick said. "That could have changed by now, again that’s as of yesterday. They would love to have KD, but it’s on their price."

The Rockets are one of three team that Durant would prefer a trade to. The others are the San Antonio Spurs and Miami Heat. The Minnesota Timberwolves, Toronto Raptors and LA Clippers are other teams that have engaged Houston in trade discussions involving the 37-year-old star.

It was almost true in the end, maybe the real sentence should have been "keep their future assets", and in this case, they did it as they didn't traded any future first round pick

thats why the market was so dry, i guess. basically no one wanted to throw in future assets for an over the hill superstar.

the rockets basically upgraded jalen green and gave up almost nothing (i personally dont value 2nd rounders that high, since you can buy them at draft night if you really like a player late in the 2nd round). pretty good deal for houston
