Supposedly he's staying. And that's a problem since moving him for additional assets is the only play that makes sense. Brooks should also be moved for more pieces.

agree, but i dont really buy the report that jalen is staying. to me its that kind of "everyone knows we cant start the season with 7 SG's so we gotta say something about how we're good to keep him" stuff that FO's put out when their roster makes no sense but they dont want a bunch of lowball offers either.

idk how they can justify keeping him honestly. he's not worth building around, he plays the same position as the only player on the PHX roster they know they want to keep, and he is not the kinda guy who is gonna be ok coming off the bench.

I can't disagree. I still don't understand - wait... yes I can... it's the PHX front office - why they didn't demand the deal being centered around Smith rather than Green. It made way more sense for us to get him rather than adding ANOTHER redundant position player we don't need.

If im the suns i start both Green and Booker and bring Beal off the bench. let him accumulate some stats and trade him at the deadline.

i think thats the only thing in the trade that conveys that PHX was under pressure to get something done, and didnt have the leverage to make demands. youre totally right JSJ made more sense than Green from a PHX perspective, but I don't think HOU does that deal.

i think taking back Green as a neutral to negative asset is baked into the rest of the value PHX got.

not that i'm saying i understand PHX FO at all, but i think thats the part of the trade that shows they didn't have a lot of leverage after KD made his "destinations" known, and the whole league knowing PHX wanted this to be over by the draft.

Beal isn't going anywhere unless he wants to and the Suns should just suck it up for this upcoming season and the next. Attaching assets to him just to clear his contract is potentially bigger mistake than acquiring him. He's just such a boat anchor.

Bold move Cotton.

This is clearly inspired by Masai's all SF lineup that he tried to build with Siakam, OG and Barnes.

if they make it to opening day with the current roster where basically the whole salary cap is alotted to SG's, it would be hilarious, and horrible, and kind of a fitting statement about the current era of suns management.

but yes, what you said would probably be the play. despite paying beal like 50m.

If Phoenix had received Jabari Smith instead of Green i would have liked the trade for them. I dont get Green with Booker and Beal. I dont even get Green with Booker if they were to magically trade Beal. As it stands i like it better for Houston.
MavsDirk, this is random, but what do you think about a Trae Young and Devin Booker pairing? The glaring issue would be defense but otherwise.....?

Im honestly not a fan of Trae Young. I think he shoots the ball too much and his defense is horrendous. I really wouldnt care for that pairing at all. I like the Dyson Daniels pairing with him in the backcourt. Not sure why Atlanta traded Hunter. I think they might have had something with him and Daniels defensively. I have no clue what Atlanta is doing. But i dont like the Booker/Green backcourt either…..Phoenix gonna rebuild i guess the best they can.

I mean lakers get definitely get non washed stars. In recent years, Shaq, Pau, LBJ, Davis all came and won rings as contributing stars, and now they just got Doncic

yeah i was saying trade Green at the deadline. his value is in the gutter right now after the playoffs, half a season of #2 option on a terrible team could raise it back up

Houston pretty much needs to go all in now due to KD's age

They gave up nothing to get a guy who averaged 26-6-4 last year.

All these people who hated on green for several years think Jalen is somehow going to turn it around and be really good?

Contenders will naturally rack up ring chasers at the end of their careers. All good teams have them, just pointing out Lakers have had good success in acquiring prime stars to attribute to championships. Last time Houston had that was Drexler.

We’ve had bad luck ever since with Barkley, Pippen, Mac, Howard, CP, Westbrook as blockbuster acquisitions that failed

OKC is beatable. Houston now has the tools to do it.

Udoka licking his chops. KD back warring with 13 year olds on X.
