1 Year Ago this move would have changed the league forever
A year ago, Chicago Bulls was shopping around Caruso, and they wanted JK. Warriors declined the offer. One year later, Caruso helped OKC to win the 2025 NBA championship while playing like the 3rd best player on the team.
How unfortunate was this for us? We could have a Curry Caruso Moody Butler Green pretty physical team to go against everyone in the league..

They would have managed to win a game without Steph if Caruso had been on the team. And they probably would have beaten OKC too (because OKC wouldn't have Caruso). Who knows? OKC probably wouldn't have gotten past Denver without Caruso.
So, you're right. Caruso probably means Warriors win another championship. Instead, they're still playing this JK game even AFTER Steve Kerr said he wants to win and therefore CAN'T play JK.
Joe Lacob is a clown. Winning isn't the thing for him. Winning HIS way is -- which means not winning at all.

Ah, yes, re-litigating the prior off-season. I believe it was Tennyson who wrote "In the summer, a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of screw the owner, this is how things would have gone down had I been in charge."

Re: 1 Year Ago this move would have changed the league forever
Caruso was one of the highest impact role players in the league last year. Most of the posters here who have a functioning amygdala would've made that trade, and it would've made a considerable difference.
Caruso is exactly the sort of player we needed this year. We would've won more games before we got Jimmy, hopefully avoiding that final season rush and not lose Steph.
The problem which we have always known is that Lacob loves Kuminga and overrates him. We have ALWAYS overrated our youth - this is one of the biggest, constant issues with this organization.

This is sarcasm, right? Caruso does not help us score enough points to beat Minny without Curry, let alone win another trophy. You guys do realize that lack of scoring is why we crashed out, right?
The hottest of takes...

its hard to say. Caruso is all NBA level defender would be able to limit wolves scoring. He would also helped against rockets so likely not going to be a 7 game series in the first place.
Caruso has a BPM of 5 and ranked 2nd in OKC team only behind SGA...incredibly underrated

He would have helped. That's a LONG way from "we definitely would have won the championship". A ridiculous number of assumptions being made. Steph going down nixed the season, it's as simple as that. Would it have helped for Steph to play fewer games/minutes? Probably, but we don't know. And if we're on that track, what about acquiring Jimmy a week or two earlier? What if Melton didn't have his season ended? What if Podz and Moody didn't get injured and could hit a few shots? There's many ways it could have been gone differently, but you can't say for sure.
Plus, I don't think we definitely know what the details of that deal involving Kuminga and Caruso would have been. Was it even a "deal on the table" or "we have some interest"? What were the other components? Again, those distinctions matter.

“In exploratory trade talks with the Golden State Warriors centered on Caruso, league sources said the Bulls inquired about Jonathan Kuminga's availability. That was rebuffed, and the Bulls made clear in talks with all teams that they didn't want to trade Caruso, especially for a package on perhaps other young pieces like Moses Moody, so they'd need to be floored by an offer to do so,” Johnson wrote.
JK would get it done i think since its bulls asking us, not the other way around.

That may be right but it's also the bulls so who knows. Were they really floored by giddey for caruso? I guess so, since they made that trade. Did they like JK more than Giddey? Most of this board doesn't so maybe neither did the bulls. If we did trade for Caruso, does that mean moody and podz are benched or traded since we would still need shooting ? Does it mean we play caruso with podz and steph?
I like caruso, he would have certainly helped. Does he get us a ring this season? Don't know about that. Not sure we even trade for Jimmy if we have caruso and aren't staring into the abyss in late Jan. Definitely makes it hard for OKC to win one as they may not get past denver w/o him.

Also a great point, if they have Caruso and they're locked into a 5 or 6 seed, do they even think they need Jimmy? Do they acquire someone else? Do they stand pat? Who knows. Steph's probably still playing a lot of minutes and a lot of games against a rough Houston defense either way. They would still lack size and shooting. Draymond would still be doing dumb things on the court. Our young guys (if we had any left) would still be inconsistent/unreliable. Kerr would still put some puzzling and frustrating lineups out there.

yup good point - having Jimmy would make Caruso trade much appealing...Jimmy is your 2nd star and Caruso is that extra gear. Guess we were not ready to gamble on Caruso when there was no second star.

It's the offseason. If we can't get dramatic during the doldrums, when can we?

Just stop right there. He would have helped. He would have helped. He would have helped. Significantly. So WTF didn't they make the trade? And in case you don't understand Caruso's game, his offense would have fit flawlessly in the Kerr system (which is a rarity). He moves without the ball, He knocks down open 3s.
My god, Would they have won the championship? Who knows. But he would have helped. A lot. And what's the point here? You're arguing he wouldn't have helped ENOUGH? You don't know that. At all. The Warriors were one piece away. Maybe two. But Caruso WAS that missing piece that could have given you a REAL chance at a title.
For what? JK? A guy the head coach hates? Who doesn't fit. On a team of 30 something vets that want to win NOW and deserve the best chance to do so? Just admit Joe Lacob is a fool. They've got Podz parading around everywhere thinking he's some big shot future all-star.
Joe Lacob makes me ill.
