Obi Toppin picked the worst time of the season to have his worst game. He was great for them though in these playoffs.

He may end up the goat when it's all said and done.

The pivot from rebuilding to this is remarkable.

Obviously getting Shai makes it different than a full rebuild in terms of time, but the first lottery pick of the rebuild is just about to come off his rookie deal.

The East, on the other hand, will be wide open.
Will the league ever fix the conference imbalance? I guess not until it starts losing money for them. I'm a Heat fan anyway, and they've benefited far more than any other team from the conference imbalance. It also helps to be in the weakest division in the league.

Siakam is the all-star, he's the leading scorer and he's the front runner for FMVP on the Pacers. He's literally done it all including a championship clinching shot and game in 2019. Instead of riding him you bet the championship on spamming TJ isos. It's just crazy and disrespectful to Pascal. Two years in a row when will Rick learn it's time to run some plays for Pascal?

He shot 5 of 13, and you want him to shoot more?

I would leave it like that, but that's very reductive, and I would agree with you of the fact that they need to run some plays to get Siakam in position where he can score at high efficiency. But Siakam isn't SGA iso-scorer, and there's a reason they run things like they do.

Lol yes. You don't stop shooting as the best player on the team cause your 5/13? SGA was 8/27... How long have you watched this sport for?

I have watched for a couple of years.

I'll say my point more directly. I agree they should have focused on Pascal more. With that said, while Pascal is a great player and I like Pascal, he does not dominate the game as an iso player, nor is that the way the Pacers have run offense. Is he better than Ben and TJ? Probably; I suspect that you would see much more focus on Pascal if Hali had went down in game six, but because they have to adjust on the fly the offense isn't working optimally, and players who are ball dominant and can get the ball wherever (TJ & Ben) are naturally going to have more opportunity than players who are less demanded/need the ball inside the arch to be affect (Drew in former, Siakam in latter).

fwiw SGA took probably a dozen terrible shots. 2/12 for three when he hasn't shot from there all season. It was terrible offense and I think Indy would have won if Ty didn't go down (albeit I assume SGA wouldn't have taken 12 threes in that case so who knows)

Congrats to the Thunder. Great cap to a great season. The circumstance isn’t ideal. No one on the Thunder team or fanbase wanted to have the cloud of that injury hanging over their coronation, but sports are unforgiving, and you just play who is in front of you. I do love seeing a team that doesn’t even shoot the ball very well be so dominant in today’s game. Feels like they have a to of room to evolve.

Yeah, it was odd. Every superstar is playing like 45+ mins in this scenario.

Hopefully, at least, the days of playing players through lower leg injuries are over. I had a gut feeling this would happen as soon as they announced he was playing for game six. They rolled the dice twice in game 7, and they got burned. Not only did the Pacers not win a championship, which was probably going to happen anyway because OKC was just the better team, but now the future of your star player is uncertain. I would never mortgage the future of an all-nba level player for a couple of games in the playoffs, and I don't care if it is the Finals.

Such a tough decision really (for the player). You never know if this is your last shot at reaching the title round, nothing is guaranteed especially if you're not an elite superstar (like Haliburton). As competitors, "if you can walk, you can play" mantra is understandable too, these are hungry humans after all and can't blame them if they do want to play. For context with Hali, he also got his generational money already too so again, i understand where he was coming from (whatever the advice of doctors/team/family was, he was vetoing those calls for him not to play) and a Game 7 opportunity obviously added to that personal pressure of showing up/playing.
If there is no basketball in heaven, i am not going.

I can't belive the team I root for finally won the big one. My condolences to Pacers fans for the terrible loss of Halliburton. I wish we could have seen him finish the game and how it would have played out. The Pacers terrified me all series long.

I'm incredibly proud of this young Thunder team and how they fought for and won the NBA championship just three years after being a 24 win team. I'll be eternally grateful to them for bringing me so much hope and joy.
