Good enough to win the championship this time, but I don't walk away from it feeling like they're a dominant group that's going to steamroll into one or two more. They are the champions and credit to them for that, they were the best team this year. But I'm not gifting them the next one automatically. That said, they will still open as favorites, and rightfully so.

I had them as clear favorites going into this season. I have them and Houston practically tied at the moment for next season. It will all depend on how much growth Chet and JDub can show vs Houston's younger pieces (Sengun, Jabari) now that they have KD.

I dunno... a healthy DEN still looms the roqdblock to all Western teams aspirations

I love Jokic. I don't love Denver's GM/Owner/decision makers.

You have a team and that is your team. Jump ship if you must, but you're not really a winner anymore once you do.

Xat was more a fan of the game and certain philosophies and he saw OKC building in that model and jumped to follow them. I can support that. He didn’t chase a bandwagon. He made a choice and got to follow a team building the way he would.

TBF... whilr Xat didnt jump to a championship team like those frontrunners who became fans of the Heatles and Lakers when they were on top, he didnt also jump to a low rebuilding team.

He jumped to a team that a lot of us knew was gonna be a top team soon. Either that or he was a Chet fanboy and got mad we took Paolo

**** em.. He’s a bandwagon jumper.

What I'm wondering is if Tatum and Haliburton will come back to form? I don't think any player has come back to the absolute same form before achillies.... Durant was close but to me he wasn't the same after his achillies.....

They entered season as favorites to win ( not just according to me, but pretty much all betting houses, it was either them or Celtics).
They won whooping 68 games in regular season . Tied for 4th best season of all time. 7 teams won 68 games or more in history. 5 of them won title.
They won championship.

We can debate how dominant they are. But clear cut favorites ended up winning.

from Pacers and injuries POV.... Man... it's finals and every player wants to play. But once you are hurt, playing through is accident waiting to happen.

It will be interesting to see how teams from East view pathway for a title. East is open, Pacers / Celtics probably won't be that good as Tatum/Hali can't return fast enough.
Will somebody like Hornets and Raptors push chips? Raptors have solid team on paper, and all of their picks. Hornets didn't have good season in ages, but have all the picks and cheap payroll.
Nets don't have talent to do anything, but have $100M in cap.
Bulls are below salary's floor.

Poor Pacers. It was hard not rooting for them. I hope we play more like them than OKC but our roster is build somewhere in the middle.
No genius playmaker and no genius iso player.
Sad to see Haliburton injured but our trade looks even better timed.
My money is on Banchero going number 1 !

Poor Hali was damned if he did and damned if he didn't play.

I could see the Hornets really make a move. Miller is that good, imo. Toronto? Idk. They don't seem to fit together.

And Miami, as always, is teetering on a knife edge between high lottery and championship! Bam is one of those Siakam type players where it seems they are perennially underrated and they can just click with their teammates and suddenly appear invincible.

Chance to win a title ( and finals MVP, probably) shows up once in a lifetime for most players. He had to take it. Ultimate bet went south. But that's what sports all about. Going after that opportunity, that sometimes is once in a lifetime.

Barnes and Ingram sound like a such an odd fit, but can't tell until they actually play together.

Losing Haliburton in Game 7 of the Finals and for all of next season might be the cruelest plot twist any fanbase has ever had to endure.

Yeah…the word “Achilles” just makes me ill to consider (for all of these guys)…also really tarnishes the heroic effort to get out there and carry your team. Nobody is going to play through an injury again for a while…the idea that IND is out of the running NEXT year because of it is a giant blow. It’s not random bad luck…we’re seeing Achilles tears usually in older players, but also, apparently, a guy whose resistance was unbalanced by another lingering injury. Scary.

Congrats to OKC. Tragedy for IND.

Simply tragic.

I think if you are Hali as a player, you still do this every time. I hope for an complete recovery for him.

Yeah...I was thinking of a new "predictions" thread and TOR did occur to me as a real threat to take a leap forward. They draft Maluach and hide him behind Poeltl for a year and they just added Ingram. Quickley missed a ton of time with injuries...they could still make a big trade or just keep RJ as a flamethrower off the bench...this is a real threat and we are not the only team to be optimistic about making a leap.

We just made our big "all-in, the East is wide open" move...others will likely still be coming. Never count on a desperate MIL either. Last time that they were worried about losing Giannis, they went and got Jrue and won a ring. Giannis is an unstoppable force - MIL is facing limitations (like Lillard) but they recognize their desirability as a FA destination and act accordingly aggressive on the trade market when needed. It's certainly needed now - I don't think they move off Giannis. I think they make one more valiant effort to surround him with a winner again, knowing how much he alone can do to carry a team.

It's also quite possible that DET isn't satisfied with their progress and makes another bold move - they have a lot of cap space and it's presumed that they spend a lot of it repaying Beasley and THJ for their underpaid prior service...I don't see that and wouldn't be surprised if they make a big move for another star next to Cade and the return of Ivey, who appeared to be making a personal leap before his injury.

Yeah.. i dunno if i like this. We are gonna have a target on our back instead of shocking other teams.

5th best odds? Scrubs gonna be penciling it on their calendar for the chance to become Magic killers

Return to Orlando Magic
