Lengthy scenes where I was just watching slack-jawed. Real legit edge of your seat moments. Some of the most gnarly stuff I've ever seen in a movie. One scene in-particular I wish I could bleach clean from my memory forever. But it's also really sweet and hits you emotionally. I had no idea there was a third star in the movie and when they showed up I was absolutely delighted.

Spoiler:
And yet, it ends with a straight up absurd ode to A Clockwork Orange that made me literally go, "WHAT" in a silent theater when credits rolled. I knew there was going to be a sequel, and that this is a planned trilogy, but WHAT THE **** WAS THAT ENDING. Single biggest tone shift since another Garland/Boyle joint in Sunshine. I just couldn't believe it.

28 Days Later is my favorite "horror" flick of all time. 28 Weeks Later was just carnage, not for me. Might just go see 28 Years Later.

Spoiler:
As soon as I saw the trailer, I clocked the zombie as Cillian Murphy. I'm right, right?

Spoiler:
Nope. Cillian is not in this one. This is a planned trilogy with two of them already filmed. Cillian will be in the next one. Also knowing who Jimmy Savile was will help the character that shows up at the end make more sense.

Years is certainly different than Days but it has some great inventiveness.
Days was great because each act pays tribute to Romero’s Dead trilogy while also taking inspiration from Return of the Living Dead (fast zombies, freeze frame shot when they crash through the gate near the end).
Years is unique as they did some stuff completely new to the genre or even horror as a whole.

First season is very slow it picks up but its never going to be a fast paced show.

This. The pacing of the episodes is always slower than most shows. But the pacing of the plot really accelerates in season two. Season one has a lot of finding out who the characters are. After that it becomes more about how they handle the business/world changing around them.

Watched the newest John Oliver where he does a deep dive on "AI slop" and how much it's infiltrated social media, news, advertising, etc. Yeah, I think the human race is cooked, man. We're doomed....

Just taking a look and what a wasteland the 2010s were for me. Not that there hasn't been anything good, but I really didn't consider anything from that decade over anything I picked. Anyway here's mine.

Some of the hardest to leave off were Michael Clayton, Oldboy, Perfect Days, Children of Men.

I did like Michael Clayton, but a group of friends raved it was exceptional… to me it was just a solid, well acted, slow burn.

I think Slumdog Millionaire had an inventive plot (at the time), great energy, fresh actors. Not an all timer, but certainly belongs on my “best of 00-20” lists.

That's how I feel about it. It wasn't until the last couple years that I realized a lot of people think it's a masterpiece. I probably should have known that earlier, considering it was up for ton of awards.

"Gangs of New York" is great. I see it get a fair amount of hate compared to the rest of Scorsese's but I love how operatic it is.

F1 isn't doing anything new story wise but the action and cinematography is awesome. Really fun movie, see it on the biggest screen possible.

In terms of similar films, I rate it below Ford v Ferrari and Top gun 2, but I hold those in high regard
