Our second round pick is gonna be really good. Shulga looks almost like he could take our backup PG spot if we miss on free agents.

I’m all for adding Drake into the team. This team needs athleticism.

I normally feast at draft time on videos and scouting reports. This year I've barely watched a thing. A sign of my growing optimism about the team I suppose.

But I agree with you about the athletic part. When we had the earlier pick I'd have been interested in Traore and Asa Newell. We do need some pop in the lineup.

The one exception to that is I like the look of the Mega kid Markovic (sp?) as a big rangy shooter. His shooting is virtually uncontestable - a la Durant. 6'10" with a really high release and a rainbow trajectory. That Mega owner knows how to scout talent for the NBA.

If we use our srp.. i want one of the duke boys. Sion Jame or Proctor. 6'5 off guards that defend like heck and shoot 3s

Prior to the rebuild, I mentioned how Weltman useem to have listed draftees very close to Kevin Pelton’s WARP rankings. Now that we are trying to win… who knows? Maybe he uses it again.

He looks really good to me too…not sure I’d spend MLE on NAW if I can get him cheap. Some mocks have him moving into first round. I also like Sion James for that role- but Powell may have more upside. We really don’t have any freak athlete/lob threats beyond Suggs.

I concur.

Drake would fit really well, because he can shoot and defend as well, not just dunk.

Drake would really add to the energy Suggs brings to the court. Imagine a hustle Play by Suggs then Drake will finish it off with an electrifying slam on a fastbreak.

I'd be very in on Kam Jones in round 2. Not sure if he makes it all the way to 46 though.

I like these picks, warming up on Powell a lot.

Was a point where I really really liked Shulga. He is a really smart basketball player, can do a lot of things, but I am very worried about him being athletic enough to be an NBA player. Nice pick at 57 though IMO.

Latest Mock from Jonathan Wasserman.

25. Orlando Magic (via Nuggets): Rasheer Fleming (Saint Joseph's, PF)
46. Orlando Magic: Javon Small (West Virginia, PG)
57. Orlando Magic (via Celtics): Micah Peavy (Georgetown, SF)

Clayton 20, Raynaud 22, Richardson 24

Fleming is really interesting with that wingspan. Feels like he could potentially afford them the ability to move off Jonathan Isaac if they were so inclined.

I'm seeing Jase at 25 and Fleming at 26..

Small has started to creep up my wants for the 2nd round. 43% on catch and shoot 3's, actual Pg skills and can pull up or attack the rim. 57% at the rim, and 56% at the rim in halfcourt.

His issue is he's 6'1' with 6'4" wingspan

This would be an amazing draft. Fleming at 25 would be awesome. He is really limited, does not put the ball on the floor, but he can be disruptive on defense and hit 3s right away IMO. Solves our depth behind Paolo and Wendell issue which I am worried about since we are currently heavily relying on Isaac potentially at both slots in case of injury.

Out of the non green room invites I am locked in on Jase and Noah Penda as my two top options and I don't think that will change at this point.

I am interested in Hugo Gonzalez, but watched more tape yesterday and am going to slide him down a bit. Just think given our timeline he may take a bit more time, but love the upside. Thiero another guy I really like to project, but not sure I love his ability to get minutes here on our timeline. Hugo and Thiero are two of my favorite late homerun type swings, but given our two best players play 3/4 they probably are better off elsewhere. Penda I view differently as he already has refined defensive and passing skills, I think he could be above TDS/Caleb instantly and Isaac insurance at the 4.

3rd would be Fleming for me. Productive, will be willing to slot into a defined 3/D big role.

Then I am OK with Raynaud and Kalkbrenner. And I also would not have a problem with Powell or Saraf.

I still like moving up in the 2nd to secure who they really like because I think there will be a drop off after like 45 ironically. Broome, Small, Yang, Brea, Sion, Amari, Markovic would be awesome, but not sure if any make it through to 46. You got extra 2nds, timeline is to win the next 4 years, so if they have a guy they like they should get him now IMO. Cheap playable depth to support the roster these next few years will be important.

I still think there's a good chance as many as 4-5 green room invites are available at 25.

Jase just looks so small when I watch him.
