KD has never been happy about a situation, why would this be the one that makes him happy?

Curious to see if this trade gets expanded to include other teams - adding in Portland sending Jerami Grant to Phoenix for Jalen Green might make some sense. I could see Brooks getting sent elsewhere, just not sure who'd be interested in him.

Why would Phoenix prefer to have Grant over Green?

he knows the coach he's going to be playing for, and that coach will be stable for the time KD is in HOU. no musical chairs leadership.

the team around him is built such that all he has to do is stay healthy and be a bucket. i assume that's what a guy like that wants.

Houston is a nice city (lived there as a kid) and its a good place to be wealthy in. Not LA or NYC/MIA but still nice.

The org is well run, maybe not SAS/OKC level but really solid, and drama free.

He gets to be the lead guy on a strong team. If he wins in HOU, it does something for his legacy.

The media in Houston is pretty chill. He shouldn't have a bad time with it.

Just a few things off the top of my head.

He's a forward.

Edit - John Collins (assuming he opts in) could be an option as well

I think this helps reverse the pain of that, but I would have rathered just never trade for kd to begin with.

Trading for KD was fine, it was Bael that screwed them over, and if KD demanded bael, front offices should be more ready not to give into player's demands because essentially the result would be the same (KD leaving) but you'd still have your picks from not trading for Bael and a horrible contract no other team really wants.

Why would portland want green? They already have a shooting guard.

He’s been on great teams where he was beloved by the fans, he’s been on title winning stacked teams, he’s been in a place where he’s hand picked his teammates and coaches, and he’s chosen everywhere he’s ever gone except OKC. He’s never been happy. He’s had it all before, he’s perpetually miserable

I could kinda agree on that.

His mopiness/moodiness is concerning. One of the reasons we were hesitant about the guy. That could affect morale of the team.

i mean, im not going to pretend i know anything about what its like being a pro athlete and having people watch everything i do and have an opinion on every little thing. but i can understand how being in that situation could affect a bunch of guys very differently. i haven't met KD so i dont know what he's like when the cameras are off.

but i feel like the fact that he pulled a bunch of strings to have this chance in HOU says a lot. there arent really any stars on the HOU roster. its a gritty team that at least last year was built around a defense and hustle identity. i can't imagine him wanting to go there if he wasn't planning on buying in to the team's identity and giving it a fair shot. bc if all he wanted to do was collect a check for a couple of years, there were alot of places he coulda asked to go to do that without having to compete as hard as Ime will demand in HOU.

literally Ime makes players earn playing time by how they compete on D and hustle plays. while im sure he'll relax that somewhat for a 37 y/o KD, he can't have his top guy being entitled while young and impressionable guys like Cam and Tari are watching.

so yeah, for me the fact he wanted to go to HOU, knowing the situation, is telling. but different people can feel differently.

I really hope this works out for KD and subsequently the Rockets. I’m obviously a Magic fan, but it will be sooo good for Durant career/legacy for him to take less than his market, be a mentor to the youngins and be a contributing piece to a championship with nothing but buckets.

I’ll be tuning in and rooting for for his success.

I feel like Jalen Green has become underrated. He is not as bad as people say, still young and growing. Just need to right people around him to teach him. A vet like DeMar would help him, just slow the game down for him a bit.

I admittedly don't follow the NBA that close anymore but I am surprised at the reactions. I just want to chime and say that I think the Rockets are going to regret trading away Jalen Green and even packaging picks with him. As great as KD is, he's old and the decline will starter sooner rather than later. I think Lebron's longevity has tricked some of you into thinking other players will be able to maintain their production in their late 30's and I just don't think that will be the case.

Grant plays a position we need; Green is just excessively and redundant.
