I have an easier time believing that we did actually offer that much and were close to closing. Houston saw that, and then threw in the trump card (#10) to seal it for themselves. But maybe I'm just in denial about how far gone our FO truly is.

im ok with them not clearing the cupboard for Durant at this stage in his career. we wont know the full offer because its over and it makes no sense to keep dragging the players names into it when they got to show up to camp disgruntled. Jalen green and the #10 pick beats anything besides all our assets. u will get more value out of guys on rookie contracts then someone looking into retirement options at the moment. we are so far away from competing that this would've been the move maybe if jimmy was here but look how he failed with GSW. I rather give wiggins a full year to prove himself if we dont trade him but rozier and duncan need to go

Why would Carter have more value than Jaquez? Seriously, who is supposed to be giving up a pick here?

3/2/1 on 37/29/59 splits

I know the grass is always greener in Heat land, but this is a stretch

Ummm Monk has zero value? Carter 13th pick last year and Jaquez 18th pick two years ago coming off a bad year.

Jaime's bad year was far far better than Carter's who is also an old prospect, so he doesn't have the upside argument to be worth our pick.

We can do 3/2/1 with our own pick all by ourself.

And what I quoted had nothing to do with Monk who I actually would like on the team.

There will be no impact player acquired. They will figure out the cap between Duncan/davion, make the 20th pick or move it for a future first, and that’s all they need to do to have a full roster for camp.

I mean it wasn't really emptying the cupboard because we didn't include Duncan (which is still very strange to me. You'd think the Suns were looking for immediate cap relief). And the ask from Phx might have been to swap Jovic for JJJ and not send them both, so it was possible that JJJ was still a piece available to trade after.

But I overall agree (or at least am accepting at this point) of everything you've said in your post except the Wiggins part. They need to get him out of here immediately, no further experimenting needed. If he's as half as useful as some of you say he is, I'm sure he can get us some draft picks. Somebody said something about Wiggins for Rui Hachimura and a pick from the Lakers. Yes please. Do it right now.

Weren’t Jovic Highsmith and Jaime all out of the rotation at different points last season en route to our 37-45 record? Sorry to keep beating a dead horse, I’m just in disbelief lol

Its not a bad concept. I think in lieu of a trade for a big name, we’re going to have find a deal similar to this that on the surface looks like a shuffling of chairs but returns some functional players on decent deals.

You want Monk, you give me Ware.
You want Carter, you give me Ware.
You want DeRozan, you give me Ware.

The kings instantly. Knecht should go to kings or jjst take out Carter and Knecht entirely.

Doesn't have star upside for sure. But, Carter's athletic tools and defense do open the door for an Alex Caruso or Josh Hart type progression in NBA.

Devin Carter went to the high school down the street from where I live in Doral. It’s meant to be!

Malik Monk for a first is the dumb ass kinda move a Sacramento king would make. Why would you take on his 20 mil for next 3 years ?
The best move Heat can do right now if they don't want to rebuild, is move the 20th pick for a 2027 one.
Play out the season and go to 2026 with tons of cap space, all your first available to trade and see what you can do

They should under no circumstances be taking on long term salary for role players.

Yes to Devin Carter. If the Kings aren’t sold, I’d take him for 20 and bank on us unlocking him like we have with Davion.

Monk would be a good add too. Another creative on ball player with some real shot making ability. Plus he’s a Kentucky boy.

WERE BAXK!!!!!!!

I don't think that Pat Riley is someone who does not know what he is doing.

Imo he will go for a big trade and probably that is the reason he didn't want to go all in for a Durant trade.
He keeps assets.

Antetokounmpo is a Pat Riley guy imo.

And Malik Monk is a very good player.
Maybe Monk is a Herro replacement and Herro will be used for a bigger trade like for Antetokounmpo?

Let's see

If Pat uses #20 Jaquez Rozier to get Monk and a future FRP and SRP this year, and that frp unlocks other picks we can trade... and then we send herro jovic wiggins and all our firsts for giannis... (maybe third team gets involved like Lakers and they send Milwaukee a frp and rui and they get wiggins).

What a dream!!! Sorry fell asleep at work for a minute.

Davion Monk Giannis Bam Ware would be sick...
