Considering how long Detroit was terrible, and had gobs of cap space for several years in that span, its kind of crazy that Detroit is just at par in terms of 1st round picks. Hell, up until 2 days ago, Detroit was operating in the red for several years in that regard.

Man, Troy Weaver was trash.

We 100% were in a position where we should have been able to add one future first or 4--5 future seconds per year for several years while we were intentionally tanking and had a clear salary slate.

I know we started in a bit of a hole with the Blake situation but also feel like we really just flat out made so many mistakes. The best part about Weaver was the commitment to be bad for a few seasons to gain top 5 picks because our talent was non existent. But he also didn't do so many of the things that Presti did.

We could have an Orlando/Bane- or Knicks/Bridges-type trade in our future, depending how the kids develop over the next year or so.
