Wow…I guess he won’t be included in any offseason trades.
I don’t think it’s a terrible number really.
Less than 8% of the Cap for a spot starting /rotation center.

This is what the floor of what starting centers should be expecting to get paid. Gafford and WCJ extensions both are, to me, starting centers in the NBA but towards the bottom rung.

Onyeka Okongwu's contract keeps looking better and better.

This has no barring on Myles Turner.

Number seems fine to me. Similar to WCJ.

I guess TC's Lively trades are in play, and Jrue trades pivot to PJ, lol.

I'm already excited for Flagg's P&R development for the first half of the season with Kyrie out. Flagg having 2-3 exceptional lob threats in Gafford/Lively/AD will be fun.

I'm not sure the team would actually deal Lively, but if I'm wrong and this board is right on his value, they absolutely should trade him at that value.

But yeah I don't see how they are paying Washington now, so he will probably be in any fake Dallas trades I make for guard help for sure.

A million for every minute he likely plays when Mavs are at full health. Really don't love it, and likely hard to gain trade value if he is not starting much on this number. I think I would have just flipped him now if he had decent value and let the next team extend him.

Shams is really annoying with the agent favor reporting. Wasn't it him that included a trade bonus when he first reported Holmes' deal awhile back

I also think Dallas hangs on to Lively. Lively is cheap, cost-controlled for 2 more years at a cheap deal at 5 and 7.2 Million respectively. In all likelihood AD and Gafford both will miss 8-15 games, Lively doesn't really overlap skill-set wise to either AD or Gafford in what he can provide Dallas compared to the other two. AD also prefers to play PF.

My prediciton is Dallas keeps the gang (Top 9-10) together. Develop Flagg on-ball and run a lot of action through Flagg/Center or Flagg/AD with a 7' always in the Dunkers spot. I'm not overly optimistic on this prediciton but it definitely doubles and triples down on Size and Defense while giving Flagg a ton of reps offensively, which will supercharge his learning curve.

My guess why they extend him is because they ether couldn't find a reasonable trade for him or they think his value will be higher if he has multiple years left on his deal compared to just 1.The Mavericks for now are locked with a overcrowded log jam at the Center position.

He was a 14 mil a year guy in 2022 season when he signed his next contract with a 13 Million AAV, which equated to roughly 10.8% of the cap in 2022 (at the time of signing, which took effect in 2024).

This new deal I'm predicting starts at 16.7 Million, which compared to the 2026 season cap is...10.8% of the cap in 2026.

Ironically enough Gafford isn't even getting a rise, just being paid what he has been, + inflation.
