he will be under contract now through the 28/29 season. he currently makes $14.4 mil for the upcoming 25/26 season.

dallas currently has gafford, lively, ad and pj washington as their 4/5 rotation and will be adding cooper flagg to the 3/4 group. someone needs to get traded, right?

The Mavs are a massive team with Gafford/Lively/AD/Flagg/Washington in the frontcourt

Nah AD is injury prone and so is Lively.

I think they keep the 3 bigs together. It reminds me of the Lakers when they had AD/Javale/Dwight. That team dominated the boards.

That was 5 years ago and AD used to make threes. They'll probably keep all three big men, but that's because they're a really stupid team.

I like that big rotation.

The odd man out is PJ Washington especially with Flagg on the team now.

You can have a flexible lineup with those 4 Flagg/AD/Gafford/Lively

I personally hate a big man rotation where they have three high resource centers who can't shoot at all, but the Mavs are stupid as **** so it makes sense from that perspective.

Glad the Mavs resigned and for now are keeping Gafford. He’s vital to the big man rotation because of Lively’s and AD’s injury history.

If the Mavs do decide to trade Gaff they have at least locked his value in on the high end.

No kidding! I mean who the hell wants to see good defense and rebounding.

Now trade Lively for Dick to help balance both teams out and we're talking.

Dick's spacing ability will be huge for a team with Kyrie/AD/Cooper while the Raptors desperately need some size after Poeltl.

it's a surplus position. considering kyrie's injury, and who knows how he will return or hold up, they should move a big for a guard.

They do need a PG but you can sacrifice depth for a stop gap PG. It makes no sense to gut your team for a rental PG. if the right trade doesn’t come along the Mavs would be better off waiting until the trade deadline.

Everything coming out of Kyrie’s camp is that he’s ahead of schedule and should be ready to go around January. I personally think he comes back right before the All Star Break. If Kyrie comes back healthy and is ready to go I would still give him a month to shake off the rust.

If the Mavs can stay afloat and be within range of the play in they have a shot to be a dangerous team by the time the postseason starts. Could a guy like Chris Paul keep the Mavs within reach of the play in throughout the first half of the season?

I dont think this extension means he’s not a trade candidate. He can technically be traded immediately (however probably unlikely).

Not to mention that Javale and Dwight made a combined $5m.

The Mavs are going to find out quickly that AD is no longer a full-time PF. Maybe they move off of Lively because committing a bunch of money to AD/Gafford/Lively (eventually) doesn’t make a lot of sense.

It's 2025 and people still don't understand the value of contracts in the NBA. This is a great deal for both sides.
